Reminder & Random Poll

I have hours upon hours of school work to completely today, so I don't have time for typical post.

Reminder #1: I've started a weekly Sunday post of my favorite blog posts of the week if you'd like to submit your favorites make sure to fill out the form.

Reminder #2: My 1 year blog-o-versary giveaway ends tomorrow!

There are 3 prizes:

Now for some random fun. I decided to put together a poll and you guys can leave your answers in the comment section.

1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?

2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?

3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?

4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?

5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?

My answers:

1. I'd say definitely China Glaze No Way Jose, OPI La Boheme, Clarins 230. I really just can't find the first two, and Clarins 230 I know it's gone down in price, but $60 for one polish that's just way out of my league.

2. That's hard. I wouldn't pick my favorite color polish at all. What I like on my nails and in my room is different! I'd say probably a color like MAC Blue India or Orly Sapphire Silk. Then decorated in this zen/beachy feel? Is that possible?

3. That's difficult I really want to say Zoya even though I have more China Glaze. Zoya wows me more. I like OPI, but I honestly don't have that many, nor do I see myself reaching for them a lot.

4. Yes! Borghese Stellar Notte. I really really wanted this polish so bad. Once I got it and put it on, I was really let down. I didn't see it having that great of duochrome effect. I think I built it up too much, so no matter what it was going to disappoint me.

5. Sheer pinks colors like OPI Bubble Bath..Zoya Danielle, and etc. I used to not touch these colors, but I really love the clean look it gives on my nails. It's refreshing!

I'd love to hear what your answers are in the comment section! It will be a nice treat after all my work today. Feel free to use this on your blogs too if you'd like.

Happy Thursday!

Steph

  1. fun poll!

    1. Chanel Holograhic, want SO bad but that sucker just went for like $300 on Ebay

    2. Nubar Indigo Illusion, it would be so pretty and duochrome-y

    3. Probably OPI, I own a LOT of OPI. I'd probably be last sad about Zoya, only because it's the least accessible of brands and I don't buy it very often anyway.

    4. hmm not that I can think of at the moment. Maybe Groovy Green from FingerPaints. The finish is fug but I love the color...but the finishes ruins it for me.

    5. I used to hate pink, now I find myself loving and buying a lot of it! Blogging has helped me get over disliking it!

  2. 1. Clarins 230 of course!
    2. China Glaze Secret Peri-winkle. I'm in a periwinkle and cornflower blue phase right now! I just can resist them!
    3. Probably Zoya because even though I love China Glaze I already have almost all the colors I want but there are still a lot of Zoyas I want!
4.China Glaze Cosmic. It's so pretty in the bottle but oh so lumpy and gritty on the nail.
    5. I really didn't like matte at first. I thought nails should be shiny! But then I saw how wonderful it would make glitters and shimmers look. Now I even like it on solid colors.

Thanks for that poll! It was really fun! :)))

  3. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it? Haha a ton :) Any of the ChG OMGs, ChG Kaleidoscope, OPI MPJ, etc, etc :)

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use? Hmm... prob. a berry color but I don't own any berry polishes actually!

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about? Most upset- ChG- great variety and price. Least upset- Zoya- I love Zoya and have the Intimate collection that I love but I don't know I love OPI collections so I'd have to say Zoya.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it? Yes, for one Essie Demure Vixen- ugh looks horrible on my skintone!

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving? My would be sheers too!

  4. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it? Probably Chanel Jade but I'm not holding my breath.

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use? China Glaze Sea Spray springs to mind. Easy on the eye but not dull.

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about? China Glaze MOST, Zoya least. All to do with availability and expense issues in England.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it? China Glaze Ruby Pumps. There are loads better red glitters out there.

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving? Cremes. I learned to buff my nails and found a great ridge-filler. Mavala. Until then cremes were impossible.

    I LOVE polls....

  5. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?
Clarins 230, yup. Not paying those crazy prices!

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?
    Probably one of Essie's pastels.

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?
Zoya. I love that they don't have so many harmful chemicals in them. They have great colors and I love the quality of the polish! It's the only expensive brand that I own quite a few of because they have awesome deals now and then (like right now) haha

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?
There have been some but I usually look up swatches online first to get a better idea. Some of the new OPI lines have been disappointing.

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?
I used to haaate animal print designs. Now I love it.

  6. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?
Essie Starry Starry Night - literally can't even find it anywhere anymore! (I must be the only person on the planet who isn't crazy for Clarins 230)

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?
OPI- Jade Is The New Black. I love green!

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?
All of the above? Haha probably China Glaze I'd be most upset about and OPI least.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?
Revlon Perplex- I was excited to get it for the awesome purple shimmer in it but I was not wowed when I painted my nails with it. :-(

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?
Reds don't really wow me at all since theres so many out there I just don't find them unique or exciting but the last firey red creme I painted my nails with looked so good on me I loved it! (China Glaze Salsa)

    ReplyDelete
  7. 1. OPI's Who Are You Wearing? It came out a while ago and it was the first OPI I ever had on my nails (before the addiction). I even asked the salon if they had extras for me to purchase which they didn't :( It is too much now but there was a point where I could have bought it for 8.50...maybe someday :)

2.OPI You Dont Know Jaques, someone asked me this question once and after thinking i'd choose a fun bright color, I went with the muted taupe. I think YDKJ is amazing and classic, you can do a lot with it and not get bored (which I do quickly!!)

3.Hard question, maybe OPI because I own the most. Zoya's are ok in my book and I love China Glaze but I think it'd still come down to OPI.

4.Stellare Notte for sure, I bought it for the same reason and it was a big let down. I have more "this will look awful...oh hey it rocks!" moments than the other way around.

5.Anything with shimmer. I had the idea in my mind that every shimmer was a frost and would only by cremes. Eventually I learned the difference and now I can't get enough shimmer. Still dislike the frosts though :/ Neons used to scare me, now I love them! I hated mattes too until I tried them, so many misconceptions!!!

  8. OOO i almost forgot mac Imperial Flower! Need it...but won't pay $20 for it :/ so pretty :)

  9. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?
Chanel Ciel de Nuit (or Essie SSN). I wanted the Chanel SO BAD when it came out in the nineties, but my mama wasn't about to spend however much on a nail polish.

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?
China Glaze Cherry Pie. So cheerful!

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?
China Glaze! I love Zoya, but they wear like crap on me, and China Glaze is absolutely my favorite brand ever.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?
Zoya Adina, sadly...I love love love the color, but the application was terrible, and the wear on me stinks. :/

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?
Reds and pinks, and that's actually mostly thanks to you...my current NOTD is ChG Strawberry Fields!

  10. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?

I want Essie Starry Starry Night SO bad, but can't find it. Chanel Red Dream, also can't find and Anna Sui Dolly Girls #312 and #313 can't find them either.

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?

    Essie Pink Parka....maybe. lol

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?

    Def. China Glaze.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?

Yes! Chanel Morning Rose. It looked SO pretty on others, that I had to have it. Got it home, used it, and don't care for it. :-(

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?

I used to hate pastels, but have grown to love them. :-)

  11. 1. Too new to the polish world to know just yet but I DO know I would LOVE an affordable magnetic nail polish *dreamy sigh*
    2. Huemorista's Dewed from her Bloom collection on Etsy - YUM!
    3. Zoya - I'd be lost!!!
    4. I was super excited for this white one I picked up by NYC (I know a cheapie so I shouldn't have expected much). I have several great colors that are wonderfully pigmented so when it took four coats to get a streaky somewhat opaque mess it went into the Zoya Earth Day exchange pile - sad!
    5. The small glittery ones. Maybe I didn't have the patience before (cause those suckers take diligence to get a nice, even coat), but now I can't live without the shimmer!

    ReplyDelete
  12. 1- I'm crazy about OPI's Mad as a Hatter.. I can't find it anymore! =(
    and Clarins 230... too expensive!

2- I love ChG's Turned up Turquoise! I think it would make a lovely color for my room! I just love it!

3- I think I would be most upset if China Glaze disappeared! But I love OPI and I'm not familiar with Zoya, so...

4- Yess! Color Club-Worth the Risqué! When I saw swatches over the internet, I thought it would be THE holo polish.. Mine wasn't... It was still beautiful, but I ended up giving it away...

5- I used to hate pinks! I can't say that I love'em now, but I can wear them..

    Loved this poll!
    Very creative!

  13. 1. I would LOVE to have the whole OMG collection, especially DV8. And Zoya Posh. I know they're not too expensive, but they're pretty HTF.

    2. Hands down, I'd paint a room in Zoya Yasmeen - especially if I could get that wine-colored shimmer to show. I would never, ever leave that room.

    3. I'd be super heartbroken if I couldn't ever get Zoya again. But the same goes for ChG - I don't know that I could pick between the two. I could take or leave OPI.

    4. I was super stoked to have won a Dior polish - it was a more expensive brand than I ever buy and it looked so pretty in the pics I'd seen online. Then I put it on - it was totally NOT my color (super pastel and super frosty). It sits in its box in my Helmer, probably never to be used again. Maybe I'll give it away.

    5. Not really a finish, but a color. I didn't use to care for grey/greige/gravender, but they're really growing on me.

  14. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?

I'd like Essie Starry Starry Night and a couple of others, but not enough to pay secondary market prices. I like a number of the new Estee Lauder polishes and some Chanels, but forget it at those prices. For what they charge for one bottle I could put together an order at an etailer for bunch of others, pay shipping, and have money left over. So not worth it.

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?

We are doing one wall in the bedroom in a medium to deep plum, kind of like Zoya Yasmeen but without the shimmer.

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?

Most: China Glaze. They have my number. And a lot of my cash.
Least: OPI. They have annoyed me on so many levels I pretty much just don't buy their products anymore.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?

OPI Ink. Looks nothing on the nail like it looks in photographs or in the bottle. It's just a plain blue with a little purple in it. I'm glad I didn't pay more than $1.00 for Revlon's Perplex, either - and boy, if I'd bought the Chanel, I'd've been spitting tacks.

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?

I'm becoming a bit more OK with more neutral polishes - I still don't get the appeal of "mannequin hands" and I will not paint my nails with any color that looks like it might have come out of either end of a baby, but I have some more grayed lavenders that are kind of interesting. That's neutral for me!

  15. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?
-I love all of Illamasqua's collection, but it is hard to find and expensive!

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?
-Hmmm, probably OPI Barefoot in Barcelona. Classic

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?
I would be most upset about OPI, and least upset about Zoya

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?
OPI Do You Lilac It I thought would be gorgeous and bright but it was just OK.

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?
I used to think Matte colors were weird and ugly, but now I really like them!

  16. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?
Any OPI DS polishes or China Glaze holos. OH! And Deborah Lippmans! Too expensive for my taste. lol OH again! GOSH holo. lol

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?
    Zoya Phoebe. :))

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?
    >.< So hard! Umm Zoya. Then OPI.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?
Zoya Bela. Nothing wrong with it. It's cute but VNL is reeeeally not my thing.

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?
    Color: Any orangesss. >.<

    ReplyDelete
  17. 1. The Clarins 230 or some of the old Versaces I've seen on Kaz (Pretty Random).
    2. OPI Meet Me at the Star Ferry, so much multi-colored shimmer.
    3. China Glaze is my #1 and I'd be pretty upset about Zoya too. OPI? Wouldn't miss them at all.
    4. Several, it happens when you shop on line.
    5. I'm not as anti-matte as I used to be although I still don't love them. Colorwise, I never thought I'd be into browns, but Misa's Chocolate Icing and CND's Cuppa Joe sucked me right down that rabbit hole!

    ReplyDelete
  18. 1. Chanel Holographic. And some other Chanels. CND Amazon. And a whole lot of other polishes. Geeze there are SO SO many.

    2. Hmmm, I dunno about nail polish on the walls, but probably something similar to CC Blue Light. Not in my bedroom though. Maybe in a spare bedroom/office. Heck, I dunno. I tend to like pastels on the walls. Now, if you are gonna ask what color my vehicle could be... CLARINS 230!!! Hee.

    3. Wow, I guess I'd be most upset about China Glaze. And least upset about OPI.

    4. Hmmm, I think the most recent one I can think of is OPI DS Mystery. It just... well it just doesn't wow me.

    5. I used to be sort of anti-brown, but now I'm finding that I will wear them more. I still don't do sheers much at all though. Hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Clarins 230 car would be awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Meet Me at the Star Ferry would be a nice room color. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm with you on the Deborah Lippmann. I have so many on my wishlist, but I don't feel I *need* them at that price!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm still kinda "meh" about mattes. I think it's the texture thing that bothers me, not so much how it looks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "I will not paint my nails with any color that looks like it might have come out of either end of a baby" <--- I'm totally with you there. I know people love those unusual colors, but baby poop or puke colors are not for me!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I used to fell the same about the gravender colors, now they're some of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm thinking some of those Color Club holos when they were first produced were better, now they're not so "holo-y"

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd be lost too without Zoya. :(

    ReplyDelete
  27. It definitely sucks when a very pricey color is a let down. :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. Aww, glad I could help you embrace the pinks and reds! ChG Strawberry Fields is my all time favorite. I approve! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm glad we agree on Stellar Notte! I thought I was alone in that one. The duochrome-ness of it really didn't impress me when it was on the nail.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wasn't impressed with Revlon Perplex either. I never really cared for Paradoxal. I wanted to like it because I figured I was missing out on something, but I find it kinda drab. :P

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yeah, I don't think the prices for Clarins will go down. It's a great one-of-kind, but you have to have some limits?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh, I love Sea Spray! That would be a great room color. I love gray-blues as room colors.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I've always been interested in Demure Vixen, but when I pick up I don't really care for it. I think some colors are over-hyped I think this maybe one of them!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I hear you on Cosmic. I don't own that one, but I own a few from that specialty glitter collection and I don't care for the gritty formula!

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's nice to see more people embracing pink!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think I'd feel like I'd gone to heaven if I could have that much Clarins 230 color in my life! I wish I could win the lottery and find a way to dupe it so everybody could have some.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1. Is there some rare/very hard to find polish you'd love to own, but you just won't pay the money for it or you simply can't find it? What polish is it?
Gosh holographic, Nfu Oh Flakies and holographic, China Glaze OMG collection

    2. If you could paint your room any nail polish which one would you use?
Probably a mint or lavender. not really decided. China Glaze Re-fresh mint, or any lavender like OPI done out in deco, American Apparel L'esprit, OPI rumple's wiggin, etc.

    3. If one of these three brands OPI, Zoya, or China Glaze disappeared from the face of the earth, which one would you be most upset about? Which one would you be least upset about?
I think I'd be most upset by OPI and least upset by maybe china glaze because I have less of them even though my fave mint green is by them.

    4. Is there a polish you thought you'd absolutely love, but ended up being disappointed in? What is it?
I don't think there is! hmmmm

    5. What is one color or finish type of nail polish you used to dislike have you ended up loving?
I've ended up loving shimmery polishes. I used to only wear creams but now I've converted!
