Sally Hansen Whisper

* I have created a personal blog. This blog will be for me talk about anything and everything. I will not update frequently, just when the mood strikes. If you'd like to follow feel free

Have you ever found polish that represents everything you hate about a nail polish color, but you end up loving it? This i show I feel about this next polish. I saw the Sally Hansen Smooth & Perfect line a few times and was intrigued by the soft colors. I ended up picking up Whisper because in the store it looked like a soft lilac creme. It was not until I got home that I realized it wasn't a creme, but a shimmer. I instantly thought I'm going to hate this, but I really don't.

Whisper

Whisper is a pale lilac frosty/pearlized shimmer.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to describe it. Based on Lacqurzied's guide, I'm going to go with a pearl, but since that is a lesser known finish I think frost would suffice as well. First of all I really hate frosts, and I do not have a lot of luck with paler shades. This has all the components to be a polish fail for me, but I really do like it. I like the softness of it. It is subdued, and I think it comes off more as one of those clean sheer pink and nude type colors than an obnoxious frost? At least it does in my book. I'm sure this color wouldn't be popular among many polish fans, but it scored a point in my book.

Happy Thursday!

  1. I purchased "Sea" and "Sorbet" from this collection.  I tried Sea earlier today; I LOVE the color but the application was all of the place, thick and gloopy, bald spots and cuticle drag.  The drying time on it was not what I expected  even after a hour of drying I still would have wrinkles if something hit my nail.  So, sadly this manicure was OFF by lunch time. There were some other issues as well; but with all this working against me this is a color I will make work!!  I love it too much not to try different ways of applying it.  I used 4 thin coats; maybe 2 thicker coats or 1 thin coat.  These are sheer polishes and I felt like after four coats my nails looked too thick.  Thanks for the post!

  4. Boo, I'm sorry you had issues with Sea from this collection. I didn't have any issues with this particular one, and I had full coverage in 3 coats. I typically do 2-3 coats anyways. I'll have to try the others to see what they're like.

  8. Good name for this shade as it's hardly there but for a whisper of color! I would say pearl with a tish of sparkle in it. Don't even remind me of the zillion of years I lived with those awful frost polishes!!

  9. I think this is a score too!!  This is definitely my kind of color.  I've bypassed these polishes so many times.  I might have to pick this one up.  I like that you don't see too many brush strokes, which is typical with frosts.
