Ever since I heard whispers of an Essie flakie, I knew I had to have it. Come on now it's a flakie! I've been awaiting the arrival of Essie Luxe Effects since July. I was thrilled to finally find Essie Shine of the Times, but did this thrill last?
Shine of the Times over Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac
Shine of the Times over WnW Black Creme
Shine of the Times is opalescent flakie that flashes different colors of the rainbow depending on the light and the color underneath it.
This is undeniably beautiful. My disappointment with this, (which will probably be other peoples joy) is that this is a dupe to Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. I guess I was expecting it to be a little different in as far as what colors it flashes. When put over a dark color the flakes are more warmer-toned while over a lighter color the cooler-tones pop out. I guess I was hoping for a flakie that would flash cooler tones over darker colors. Am I even making sense?
That all being said, it is beautiful. I will keep it because like rainbow glitters I need all flakies. I love this over lighter colors the best. If you missed out on Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure this will certainly fulfill that void! I feel selfish saying I was a bit disappointed, since so many people missed out on Hidden Treasure. I'm sorry. You know how us polish people get. We get pickier and pickier over time.
I have a flakie that looks just like this one, so I don't think I'll get this one. I really like flakies though, but sometimes I don't know over what color I can apply them ;pReplyDelete
I'm glad they made another mass market flakie. I hate paying online shipping costs. I do agree that a flakie with some different shading would be nice from one of these companies.ReplyDelete
I was shocked when I saw this at Ulta, I picked it up right away because I hopped on the polish train after hidden treasureReplyDelete
Oh, this is gorgeous!ReplyDelete
I love how it looks over black.
I understand what you mean about flashing cooler tones more so than warmer. I still think this is BEAUTIFUL and I didn't get Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure so this is on my "To buy" list!!! thanks for this wonderful post!!!ReplyDelete
Mine just came in the mail today! I missed out on Hidden Treasure, so I'm happy with this one. I love it over the lilac.ReplyDelete
I love it over the lilac; it's gorgeous! I have Nubar 2010 (which I've heard may also be a dupe) but for some reason I've never thought to put it over a light color. I definitely will now! :)ReplyDelete
I agree.. flakies are AWESOME.. but it's kind of lame that it's a HT dupe. However, I missed out on it the first time around so I made sure to snag two bottles this time! :DReplyDelete
I also like it better over lighter colors as well.
I can't wait to find this in stores!! :D Beautiful, especially over the lilac polish!ReplyDelete
I just went on a special mission to buy this polish today, and I couldn't find it anywhere! So I actually had a salon place a special order for me, haha, I want it so badly! I missed out on Hidden Treasure and don't have Nubar 2010, so this one will be perfect for me.ReplyDelete
Everytime I see this polish in other blogs I drool over my keyboard :D I need it, I want it!! I still don't own any kind of flakies, so I guess this could be a good first choice, right? :)ReplyDelete
Killah over that SH!!!!!ReplyDelete
It's a dupe for Nubar 2010 too, which is one I already own :(ReplyDelete
I alway love flakie polishes like these! But I have a million of them lolReplyDelete
