Essie Mojito Madness

As many of you have know, the color green and I have become good friends this year. I used to avoid green at all costs. What's funny is I really haven't told you why.

Storytime.....

When I first started getting into nail polish I got this color called Milani Green Glow (I suggest you google it). I believe I got this in January 2009. I painted my nails with this, and went to one of my classes. The girl sitting next me to kept staring at my nails and said "Eww, why would you paint your nails green?!? That was it I was done with green."

That is why I avoided green for so long. Sad isn't it? Truth is Milani Green Glow was an atrocious color on me, but still I avoided a whole color family based on some snotty girl's comments. Don't do this ladies. Don't listen to nay-sayers and icky people. They suck.

I warmed up to green in the past year, and to answer that mean girl's question from 3 years ago..I wear green nail polish because it's cool, different, and I like to. So there! On that note, I have a cool Essie green for you today.

Mojito Madness

Mojito Madness is a medium mint green creme.

This is part of the Bikini So Teeny collection. I actually got this in a Klout Perk. I was really hoping I'd get this color because it was the one I really wanted. I got it! It's not too light and it's not to dark. It's just right. The formula on this was easy to use too. I love this green. It's a different shade of green I'm used to seeing in nail polish, and based one what I'm seeing on blogs it looks like this color would flatter most skin tones .

Be confident with the polish you wear!

Happy Wednesday!

  2. I'm so sad to hear that some dumb snob nearly ruined one of the best (IMHO) color families. Everytime I see swatches of this amazing color it reminds of how badly I NEED it. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your new friend ;)

  3. LOL, she is probably wearing green herself by now - but it's sad how comments like than can effect us..
Mojito Madness is a great green color!

  4. Wear what you like! The thing that is neat about polish is that you can wear colors that would look atrocious on your because it is on your nails and not near your face!

  5. Good for you for wearing what you want.  I love this Essie so much.  It's gorgeous.

  8. That girl probably thinks that sheer pink is a shocking color to wear. Boring!

I love this color. This was my Klout Perk color, as well, and I love it! It looks like it should be scented!

  9. Hell yeah it's cool!! Narrow minded biotch!!! I'm still trying to warm up to greens myself, I think people who wear them are brave!! Brave as in they don't care what others think. Glad you are sporting greens Steph!!

  10. I think it looks lovely and happy and fun.  Personally I stay away from greens, blues and yellows but that is only because of the age factor. But for anyone under mmmmm, say 40is?  I think they are great.  People get stuck in concepts (like me regarding age appropriate !?!?!).  Damn, I love to see women with each nail a different color.  Adds happy to life, a bit of fun to get us through the harder days or just make us shine out even more.   Who even cares what someone else thinks?
Yikes, I do sound a bit contradictory here.  Think I'll take my own advice and be brave with Butter London's Waity Katie.

  11. Hey Steph!

I'm sooooooooo glad that you're warming up to greens because this one looks fabulous on you! :D Hehe, and never mind that this is coming from a totally biased green lover. ;)

  12. When I was a teen I loved green nail polish, but my mother used to make a face at my green nails and say, "Ewwwww mildew nails".  Remembering her words, I didn't wear green for years, but guess what I like to wear now?

It is surprising how much an offhand comment can impact someone.  Stephanie, it is good that you didn't wait any longer to wear green!    I am going to wear green polish until I get to be 100!

I have decided that my new attitude toward people who want to tell me what to do/say/wear is F  ALL  Y'ALL, accompanied by the appropriate gesture.  You struck a nerve here, can you tell?

  13. I love Mojito Madness! I've been trying to convince myself I don't need it, but I'll probably cave and get it soon...

That Milani, though...shudder. Sorry, it's just not for me. But you should wear whatever you like!

  14. I love Mojito Madness.  I have to say, I googled the Milani one you talked about and I'm not a big fan.  But perhaps I didn't see the prettiest swatches.  Isn't it crazy how one comment can give you a complex about something?  You can get a million compliments and then one negative will stand out like a sore thumb....or a "green thumb" :)  This looks beautiful though!  I'm glad you wear green now.

  19. Haha, exactly! I'm not a flashy dresser or flashy with makeup, but with nails that goes out the window!

  22. Haha, well said my friend. It took me awhile to warm up to them. I think it's all about finding the greens that work best on you. There are some greens that look scary on me, and some that look awesome. I just gravitate towards the awesome ones.

  23. Do you know Joan Rivers? She's 79 and sports bright blues and greens frequently! I really don't think age is a factor there. I think if you're uncomfortable with it, it's about finding the shades that flatter your skin tone or compliment an outfit. I think you should be brave and try it out!

  25. It's true. I just assumed all greens where a no go for me. I completely avoided them. I'm glad I did away with that. I'm always finding new greens I like now, and wear them proudly. I agree F ALL Y'ALL!

  26. No, it was actually a very ugly color. It was back when this HTF color China Glaze Moonpool was popular, and it kind of reminded me of that so I went for it. Yellow/greens certainly are not for me, but I didn't need to take it as far as avoiding greens all together!

  28. Mojito Madness is one of my fave greens, too!  My mother hates that I wear greens and blues and yellows - for her, the only proper colors are pale pinks and champagne.   It helps that my 7-yr old niece loves every crazy thing I put on my nails.  So when my mom makes a face, my niece screams, "I LOVE IT!" lol!

  29. I can see why you were turned off green, Green Glow is yucky. Mostly cause it's sheer and from the swatches I've seen, it looks like stained nails or something. Oh how it does not do green polish justice!

But I'm glad you've come over to the green side :D
