Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air

I first want to thank you all for your comments on Tuesday's post. I just finished replying to all of you. I appreciate all of your honesty, and it's nice to know that we share so many similar feelings. A majority of the comments focused on how negatively many of you were impacted by blog posts/comments from bloggers who negatively point out blogging imperfections. If any of those people are reading this, cut it out, and find something better to do. You're not fooling me, if you were so confident in your blogs, you would have no need to put down others. -Rant over-

Today, I have for you a Deborah Lippmann polish I got on my birthday a few months back. When I first saw swatches of this, I was conflicted. I really loved the glitter in this, but the sheerness of it was off putting. Well, glitter won over sheer, and I caved!

Glitter in the Air
Glitter in the Air is a sheer white with large and small light pink and light blue glitters. This is 4-5 coats.

Glitter in the Air over Urban Outfitters Barstool

I'm on the fence if I'd wear this on its own. It looks ok, but not great. It is definitely better layered. I love the glitters in here. They're very pretty and feminine. It reminds me of those Funfetti cakes. If it wasn't my birthday, I don't know if I would of shelled out the $18 for it. $18 seems less painful when it's your birthday!

Happy Thursday!

  2. I really love Glitter In The Air, but I am always conflicted....I wish it were just a tad more opaque, but I still consider it to be one of my favorite purchases this year because it is so unique.  I love your layering pic!!

  4. I'm on the fence on using this on its own too. It wil take more coats than I would like to get that opacity. I usually do 2 coats for my own mani. Super sheer would be 3 for me or 4. I don't think I'm willing to do more than that, but for that price......2 coats is generally my limit.

  5. I bought this color and then felt the same way. I'll just stick to wearing as a glitter over other colors for now!

  11. Gah. I'm super jealous. I've been wanting this forever. I've even thought about trying to franken it. I think it'd be really pretty over SC 'Paradise' ..at least I think it's Paradise. It's a really pretty cornflower blue that you've swatched before.

  12. I love this layered over UO's Barstool! I'm so torn on this polish. I want to buy it but the sheerness makes me think I'll never use it. I do like it over the baby blue though!

  13. Ugh, some day I will have this polish. I just haven't quite talked myself into dropping the money for it yet. I do think it would be excellent for layering, I love the color of the hex glitter in it.

It looks so much nicer over the other polish! But I don't think I ever want to pay that much for a nail polish :P

  16. This is really gorgeous, but 18$ are really a lot of money! Luckily Deborah Lippmann is not available here in Italy, so even if I'm tempted, I cannot buy anything!!! :)

  17. I bought this when it first came out along with Naked that released at the same time. I have worn Up In the Air over the DL Naked a ton and while they seem like they would not go together they really do compliment each other and I get tons of compliments when I wear that mani/pedi combo.  So do try UITA over a shade that is close to Naked - something that has a nice even, good opaqueness - zero chalkiness to it. The lightness of UITA just really  looks like balloons floating off into the air when put over a shade like DL Naked. The blue base that UITA is in is a sheer blue and it really looks nice laying over a nude opaque shade.

  18. When I first heard about this polish, I was also really interested in getting it, but the sheerness also made me hold off. I still haven't bought it even though it is very sweet-looking. And I agree with you that it's better layered. Thanks for sharing!

  19. I'm not sure about it on it's own, it's way o sheer for my liking. But I love it layered!
