Essence Irreplaceable

The stars to do not always align when you put on a pretty polish. Sometimes the polish you "ooh" and "ahh" at turns out to look like complete crap on your nails. Sorry, I had to blunt, but isn't that the truth? Essence Irreplaceable is a perfect example of this. The same goes for Zoya Jules, since I think they are very similar. These are beautiful taupe-beige polishes with insanely gorgeous golden shimmer. I love them, but they don't love me. This makes me want so shed sparkly tears of nail polish unhappiness. I will live though.

Essence Irreplaceable

Irreplaceable is a beige-nude with a gorgeous golden shimmer.

This makes me hands look ruddy and dirty. It's rather icky really. I absolutely love the shimmer in this. It is unlike any other gold shimmer I've seen. I just so wish it was paired with a different color. I've read a few blogs and seen other people's comments about this color, and it seems it goes 50/50 it either looks good on you or it doesn't. Very sad....very sad, indeed.

Happy Monday!

Be sure to check out my FB page. I have small giveaway on there that ends tonight.

  1. I don't think it makes your hands look dirty but I have to agree that it could have been paired with a different color.  The two colors together look very Grandma-ish, lol.

  2. Oh this is a sad one! I adore this color and it really should make my nails look ruddy, but somehow it doesn't! I bet one of your friends will be very happy to have it.

  3. I just bought this color.  I figured for $1 if I hated it no big deal.  I don't think it looks bad on you at all.

  4. I like it on you as well!  But I know what you mean....I will look at other people's hands and think , "I need that color!" only to put it on myself and want to gag ;)

  5. I know what you mean! I had the same experience with Zoya Gaia. Beautiful polish, but didn't go with my skintone. I think it's the golden shimmer, I won't buy any neutrals with golden reflection unless I try them first!!

  6. Such a beautiful shade! I love the subtleness of it and the fact that it's grey!

  8. This looks gorgeous on you!!  It reminds me of All Hail the Queen, but with more shimmer.

  11. Well, it looks beautiful on you from where I'm sitting, but I get what you're saying. Some nail polishes are just a let down. I'm a sucker for the golden shimmer, too. I do have an idea, though- do you have CG white cap? I feel like it might be a good way to layer strong golden shimmer over whatever other colour you want it on. It's quite sheer, so I would hope that the slightly milky base would allow a base colour of your choice to show through.

On a side note, I've never come across Essence polishes anywhere... where do you find them?

    Thanks for sharing, Stephanie! :)

  12. I know exactly what you mean. There's so many colors that I admire in the bottle that look like crap on my hands. I love Essence Irreplaceable though, it looks like it'll be similar to that new shade in the China Glaze Hunger Game collection.

  13. You must have cool-toned skin like I do, because I felt the exact same way about this AND Jules.

  14. Fast Track? That's what I was thinking, too! Would love to see a side by side comparison.

  15. You might try Nite Owl by Orly, it's a  beige-y nude but with silver shimmer. I have cool-toned skin too, and it suits me. Gosh, the gold shimmer is pretty tho, I think I'd risk lobsterhands for it ;)

  16. Yeah, I don't think the nude base does that shimmer justice.

  17. I'm kind of attached too just because of that dang shimmer. We'll see...:P

  18. I know thankfully it was a cheap mistake. I just wish it wasn't a mistake!

  19. I hate that! That happens so often. A lot of the time you have a feeling that it won't work but you get it anyways!

  20. Yeah, it's definitely the neutral with the gold shimmer throwing it off.

  21. It is a pretty shade! :)

  23. It is really pretty. I think you're right about it being dupey to one of the HG polishes.

  24. Yeah I do. It's so strange because some warm shades look really good on me, but others are a nightmare. This is one of them for sure.

  28. II don't think it looks bad on you at all! And it is a gorgeous color!

  29. Only $1! Nice. Makes me wish there was an Ulta in my neck of the woods. In fact, I'm not at all certain we have them in Canada.

  30. Is it sheer enough to layer over something more intense so you can still enjoy the shimmer?

  31. That makes me sad that this doesn't work for you! This is one of my FAVORITE polishes ever!
