China Glaze Emotion

A little while ago while purging my stash for my blog sale I came across this China Glaze color. I was tempted to put it in the purge pile, but I decided not to. This color has one of the characteristics of a polish I hate. It's frosty. I can't help but love this one though. I think sometimes frosts can be nice, if they're paired with the right color. At least for me, in this case I approve this frost! Plus, I think I have some attachment to it, because it was one of the first polishes I bought when I got into nail polish.

Emotion
Emotion is a warm shimmery metallic pink.

This was from the spring Romantique 2009 collection. It's funny how that was only 2 years ago, but in nail polish years 2 years might as well be 10. I actually love the finish on it. It almost looks chrome. I also love the vibrancy of this pink too. It's not your typical dated pale pink frost. This pink definitely has some depth and punch to it! All in all, I really like this color. I think it will stay in my stash. :)

Happy Monday!

  1. Isn't amazing how there's that one color that makes no sense to love since it's the epitome of all things you hate in a polish and yet is has your heart? Thanks for sharing - I think it's a wonderful color - glad you held onto it

  5. What's with our distaste for frosts? Those of you younger polish fans are far too young to recall all the horrible years (and horrible formulas) when it was cream or frost - pearl did not exist yet - nor shimmer or anything else. I am talking 60's & 70's and toward really the late 80's and early 90's before we started to see a few changes when more than the 4 nail polish companies existed who produced 99.9999% of every one of the polishes out there for every other company. I wore frosts be cause that was what was 'in.' That white frost in the mid 60's was the it shade along with the almost white frosted lipstick too! But still today I dislike frosts. They can be streaky - but it's the over all look - esp now that I know I can get a metallic or a shimmer that gives me a finish in the frost range that I like. Are you like me and hope that frosts never make a huge come-back? Funny as creams have been around for ages and I love good creams - but frosts - meah - I have some in my stash sure - esp with my stash reaching back now to 25 yrs or so...despite many, many purgings....some of which I wish I had hung on to a # of those shades I was too ruthless with when I lived in cracker box size spaces and every inch counted (not too far from what my living space is now...how do your folks who like in NYC in tiny, tiny places and dorm rooms manage???? Nice you discovered a frost that really is pretty. Question is will you ever wear it again other than for this blog swatching? My guess is nope.

  7. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only person who has sentimental attachments to polishes. Emotion is definitely pretty!

  8. Wow..that was a little long winded. Frosts are sometimes really distasteful but lots of them make great bases for stamping/nail art. It helps take away from the frostiness and bring out the shimmer. And this romantiques collection also makes great stamping colours!

If you still have some frosts you should try them in nail art!

  11. Not a huge frost fan, either. I like the tone of that colour but I fear that the frostiness would drive me bonkers. lol Sometimes a polish just worms it's way into our heart, in spite of it being a colour or finish that we don't necessarily like. When it does, we just have to hang on to it and love it. :D

  12. Uh... Where were you trying to go with this? And why the backhanded slap? If you disagree, fine. That is certainly your right. But was it necessary to to be so pointedly nasty, especially at the end?

Who cares whether or not she ever wears that polish again? It has some sentimental value, as it was one of her first purchases after she really got into polish. That alone merits it a place in her permanent collection, if you ask me.

  13. Reminds me of the new OPI "It's My Year" from the Miss Universe collection.  It's a beautiful pinky purple with a gold glitter on top.  I'm loving it.

  15. I use this polish almost exclusively for stamping, that way I can enjoy the pretty without any streaks! Like most of China Glaze's metallics, it stamps really well. ^_^
