OPI DS Ruby

**There is now a BOGO free special on my blog sale. I've added new items as well. Check it out if you're interested!**

I know, this color is HTF, but it's so amazing I have to share. I have avoided posting HTF and higher end stuff on this blog because I felt it's not really fair to show people stuff that is difficult or expensive to get your hands on. That being said, I have a few rare beauties, that haven't seen the light of day on this blog. This will never become a nail blog full of high end polishes because I simply don't have the money for them, but the few I've spent an extra penny on are so worth showing you guys, because they're some of my favorites!

DS Ruby

DS Ruby is a cherry red holo

This is a great holographic polish, and I love that it's red. We need more red holos! Despite its greatness, it does have a flaw, this is chip city. I don't know how to make this work. I don't wear base coat with holos because I find it makes them apply streaky and uneven. I put top coat on them despite it does dull the holo-ness, but it chips like crazy. I've had this issue with pretty much any holographic polish. Le sigh.

Happy Tuesday!

  1. It's pricey, but I like Nfu Oh Aqua Base for holos; if it gets you extra wear out of your rare beauty, might be worth it.

I never mind seeing hard to finds since vicariously might be the only way I ever get to enjoy them. :)

  2. I have not noticed top coats dulling my holos (I use CND Super Shiny Top Coat). You are so mean! Now I want this lol. I have been on a holo kick. It may take finding the right top and base coat (I use two coats of OPIs base coat (forget the name, the clear green tinted one) ).

  6. I would eat this polish if I could.  It. is. gorgeous. period.  Fast chipping is my one gripe about holos, too.  I didn't know about not using base coat, though.  Thanks for the heads up!

  8. You should definately post your HTF's etc, show off a little - as a nail geek, for me it's the same as a birdwatcher ooohing over a rare bird :-)  This is a really pretty polish x

Hey, this is your blog. Show what you love. I like to see HTFs. Whether I can ever lay my hot little hands on them or not, it is fun to see them and drool a little. :D

  12. That is so yummy! I may have to go try to find  this one though chipping makes me hesitant...I do love that you really try to stick with polishes that are obtainable. That is why I love your blog so very much. Keep up the awesome work!
