Valentines Day: Pink, Hearts, & Crackle!

Happy Valentines Day everyone. To be honest, I'm not anti-Valentines or really into it either. I always was annoyed by it when I was single, and when I'm in a relationship it's not a big deal.  It is a good excuse to do neat things with your nails though!

Here is the mani I've been wearing this weekend. It's OPI Pink Me I'm Good with Love My Nails Crazy For You red hearts on my ring fingers.

I LOVE Pink My I'm Good, it's such an amazing pink!

Today, I decided I wanted to spice the manicure up a bit so I added a coat of China Glaze Crackle in Black Mesh to it.

I was concerned this may look tacky, but thanks to many nail buddies out there they approve. I think it looks pretty cool! I actually prefer this China Glaze crackle to OPI Black Shatter, it is SO much easier to work with! I will be doing a separate post on China Glaze crackle soon.

Happy Valentines Day!

China Glaze Awakening

I've been doing this blog for a little over 10 months now, and I haven't posted one of my favorite China Glaze colors. This one would definitely be in my top 10 favorite China Glaze colors of all time. It doesn't get much attention though, and I've only seen it on a few blogs. I believe it is in their core line because I found it at Sally Beauty Supply. :)

Awakening
Awakening is rosey-purple (depends on the light) shimmer with golden duochrome flash.

I can never tell if this color is pink or purple, but that's the beauty of it. In different lights it looks like different colors, and the golden flash is gorgeous. This was also one of my first polishes I got once I started collecting, so it's extra special!

Happy Sunday!

Revlon Scented Ocean Breeze

Scented polish. This is probably one of those things I should stay away from. It always sounds so intriguing, but it's probably not the ideal product for someone who is sensitive to smells. This Revlon is a nice color, but blech I can do without the smell!

Ocean Breeze

Ocean Breeze is a shimmery/frosty teal with blue flash.

Like I said, nice color, but not so nice smell. This doesn't smell like "Ocean Breeze" to me. It actually reminds me of this body spray I used at sleep away summer camp when I was 13. I know that's not helpful. It smells kind of like a bubble bath. I like the smell of bubble bath, but this is just too strong. The fragrance is so concentrated that it is nauseating and headache producing. The actual scent isn't terrible it's the intensity of it that's the problem. "Ocean Breeze" should be light and crisp, not heavy. Some people could be alright with this, but I really don't recommend this if you're sensitive to strong smells. This nauseated me and brought on a bit of a headache. :(

Happy Saturday!

Serena Glam Slam Set

I have to be honest. I wasn't too excited about the OPI Katy Perry collection. I wanted Black Shatter, but I wasn't as excited as others about it. I started seeing how fast this stuff was selling online and in stores, so I decided it would probably wise to go look for Black Shatter. I found it in the Serena Glam Slam Set at a small beauty supply store, and I'm glad I did!

This set comes with two polishes. I must say I'm much more impressed with the color that compliments Black Shatter than the Katy Perry colors.

Simply Smashing
Simply Smashing is a green-yellow golden foil shimmer.

Now, I think this color is ideal to put Black Shatter on top..however, I wouldn't wear this color on it's own. It's just not right for my skin tone, but a neat color nonetheless!

Black Shatter w/ Simply Smashing
I extremely underestimated Black Shatter. I really wasn't overly thrilled about it at first, until I bought it and tried it for myself. This polish "shatters" instantly on your nails unlike other crackle type polishes that usually need some drying time before they "crack". This is also definitely a "shatter" vs. a "crackle", if that makes sense. This gives you a nice balance between the base color and shatter.

Black Shatter depending on how you use it can give you different effects. If you use a thick coat you get bigger pieces of black, while if you do a thin coat you get a more scattered thinner pieces of shatter. I prefer a thicker coat, but that's just me. This wasn't hard to work with. You do need to work fast, and try to the Black Shatter on at once without having to go over the nail again. Overall, LOVE this polish!

Happy Friday!

Sally Hansen The Real Teal & Happy Birthday Mom!

Hello! I first want to wish my mom a Happy Birthday! Sadly, she is sick on her birthday :(. She works at a hospital, so it's not uncommon for her to catch things going around easily. I'm still bummed out that she has to spend her birthday sick. I wanted to show a color today I know she'd love. She loves blues and teals, so here is a great teal by Sally Hansen!

The Real Teal
The Real Teal is a medium bright teal shimmer.

This is a drugstore must have! I know I say I like a lot of colors, but I save "must haves" for the greats. This is an easy find, and one I highly recommend. I love how glowy this one is! Go now, get this color! That is all. :P

Happy Wednesday & Happy Birthday, Mom!
