Orly Mirrorball

I have a very popular polish to share with you today from the Orly Sparkle collection--Mirrorball. This is one of those rare finds when it comes to mainstream retail nail polish that's for sure. It's easy to see why Mirrorball got a lot of buzz!

Mirrorball is a silver linear holo with sparse holograhpic glitter.

Collection: Orly Sparkle Holiday 2014

Color: You rarely find holos of this quality in mainstream brands anymore. This is a bright and beautiful silver holo. The picture speaks for itself here.

Formula: The formula was easy to work, but was a tad bit sheer. I used 3 coats here.

Price: This can purchased in the $7-$8 range at Sally's, Ulta, and online retailers. You rarely find holos priced like this!

Overall: Excellent all around polish. This is such a nice surprise in the mainstream market, and I hope more brands follow suit. The price is great, and this is a definite must have for polish addicts.

Throwback Thursday: China Glaze Emerald Sparkle

I have one of my first polishes I ever owned as a nail polish addict to share with you today. I got into nail polish back in December 2008, 6 years ago. Wow, that seems like so long ago, in nail polish years, considering all the collections and trends I've seen come and go.

When I first got into nail polish I was only familiar with drugstore brands and OPI. I didn't know China Glaze existed. I started visiting the nail board on Makeup Alley (haven't been there in years) back then, and heard that a must have polish was Emerald Sparkle by China Glaze. Emerald Sparkle became one of my first China Glaze polishes, and definitely igniting my already growing love for nail polish.

Emerald Sparkle

 Emerald Sparkle is a deep green jelly base filled with green micro-glitter.

Collection: Sleigh Ride Holiday 2008

Color: This is a beautiful squishy green glitter. This is so richly pigmented and sparkles beautifully. I haven't come across a green in recent years that can compares to the awesomeness of Emerald Sparkle.

Formula: This a nice and smooth formula. I do find this requires 3 coats for full coverage.

Price: Unfortunately, this has become a little harder to find, but not impossible fi you're will to splurge. If you search it on eBay you can find some listings in the $14-$15 range.

Overall: This is classic favorite for me, and it definitely has some sentimental value. That being said, it is a beautiful polish, and one I haven't seen replicated or beat in 6 years!

China Glaze Golden Seal

I have another one of the China Glaze Ulta exclusives to share with you today. When I bought these I totally bought them on a whim. I didn't see them in person, and was hoping I'd luck out. The ones I got, I feel I did get lucky. This next one is really nice!

Golden Seal over JulieG Oh Em Gee

Golden Seal is a mix of gold shard/shredded glitters in a clear base.

Color: This is pretty straight forward, but I LOVE it. I don't recall really seeing any gold shard glitters like this before. I've seen flake glitters, and gold shard glitters mixed with other type glitters. I haven't seen one on it's own before. This is a very blingy gold too.

Formula: Excellent formula. I love the sizes of the glitters. I know some glitters like this you can get a mix of ginormous chunks and few smaller pieces. This has a nice balance of small and medium shards. This applies so easily too. I didn't have to dab this on at all. The glitters didn't stick together. This just painted on the nail perfectly.

Price: This cost $7.50 at Ulta.

Overall: I'm in love with Golden Seal. Like I said, it's pretty straight forward, but sometimes when simple is done right, it is spectacular. Beautiful glitter topper polish. Must have. I adore this!

Orly Glitterbomb

I have another polish from the Orly Sparkle holiday collection to show you today. You know what I really don't like about this collection? I really wish they had some festive names for the polishes. It's a holiday collection, and I want some holiday cheer! The polishes certainly are festive, but not the names. I know a dumb complaint. It's not a huge deal.

Glitterbomb over Sinful Colors Candy Coated

Glitterbomb is a multicolored glitter and  micro iridescent glitter in a clear base.

Color: I love multicolored glitter toppers. This one varies a different from the rest because the colors in here are bit muted, and not as vibrant. What I also noticed is this has a very subtle teeny tiny iridescent micro glitter added to it. This makes it all the more sparkly.

Formula: I found this formula bit thick and a bit sparse glitter wise. The thickness could be attributed to the fact I have a mini bottle. The sparseness is just how it is. I used 2 coats above. I really wish this glitter was a little more dense, so it could pack a bigger punch. 

Price: This can be purchased in the $7-$8 range at Ulta. I bought it in a mini set that included 3 other polishes for around $10.

Overall: This is a pretty glitter polish, it could just be so much better if it were denser. Oh, and calling it something a little more holiday themed instead of Glitterbomb, would of made me happier too. I won't count against the name though.

Cult Nails Inescapable

We have all experienced those nail polishes that wow in the bottle, but underwhelm on the nail. I had the exact opposite experience with this next Cult Nails color though. I bought Inescapable as set with the other 2 colors Subline and Wanna Be in the collection.. This was the color while it looked nice, didn't wow me. I've always been underwhelmed with glitters like this because I don't find they really pop on the nail. In this case, I was very wrong!

Inescapable

 Inescapable is a black/brown jelly base with copper and pink glitters.

Color: This is described as a brown jelly by Cult Nails. This really looks more like a soft black to me with the tiniest hint of brown, The only time it looks really brown to me is on the first coat. That out of the way, this is stunning! The base doesn't drown the glitter which I was afraid of. The glitter really pops and this polish really sparkles! I love the use of pink/copper glitter with this base, because typically we see colors like this paired with silver glitter.

Formula: Excellent formula. This is a jam-packed glitter polish, but the formula is smooth and so easy to apply. This isn't chunky in the slightest. I used 3 coats above.

Price: This is $12.00 on the Cult Nails website.

Overall: What an amazing surprise I had with this polish. I admit, I doubted it at first, but now I absolutely adore it. This became and instant favorite for me, and I didn't take it off after I swatched it. I love Inescapable. This is hands down a must have, and a winning polish!
