Throwback Thursday: KBShimmer Sugar Plum Faerie

I have for you today a holiday favorite of mine. This was a KBShimmer winter release in 2012, but was released for this year too. This made my Top 20 of 2012, and has remained a favorite KBShimmer of mine for all time!

Sugar Plum Faerie 

Sugar Plum Faerie is a soft plum violet crelly with berry colored holographic glitters in different sizes, a scattering of purple glitters  along with lime holographic glitters.

Collection: KBShimmer Winter 2012. Re-released in KBShimmer Winter 2014.

Color: I love non-traditional holiday colors, and this fits that perfectly. This color is festive and fits the season, without it screaming Christmas. I love the purple base, and the color of glitters mixed in. These are not colors I would ever chosen to go together in polish, but they compliment each other perfectly.

Formula: This is an easy to use glitter formula. Sugar Plum Faerie was opaque for me in 3 coats, but I added a 4th. 3 coats is really all you need, but if you want the base color to pop a bit more I recommend a 4th.

Price: This is $8.75 on the KBShimmer website.

Overall: Excellent all-around polish for the holidays and beyond. This is my favorite KBShimmer ever, and I have a soft spot for it. I think this is a definite must have in any nail polish collection.

China Glaze Boundary of Memory

A little late to the game with this one, but that's ok! I have one of the China Glaze polishes from The Giver collection to show you. I think I'm the only person who never read the book or saw the movie. I remember in middle school other English classes read The Giver, but for some reason mine didn't. I have no idea what it's about or anything. I need to get on that.

Boundary of Memory

 Boundary of Memory is a mix of fine black, silver, copper, and brown glitter in a clear base.

Color: This is a unique one for sure, in formulation and color. I've never seen a glitter combination quite like this at all. I love it.

Formula: This was only a 2 coater, and applied easily. I miss glitters like this. You do not see very many fine 2 coat opaque glitters anymore at all. I love them so much, and unlike chunky glitters, I find these remove easily.

Price: I paid around $7-$7.50 for this at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Overall: Boundary of Memory is a beautiful and unique glitter mix. I absolutely love the fine opaque glitter, and it makes me yearn for more! This applied easily, and all around is awesome!

Essie Summit of Style

I have one of the new Essie Luxeffects released for the holiday season to share with you today. I haven't been all too enthused with drugstore offerings lately. In fact, I'm downright depressed. I do not see really any notable holiday nail polish collections at all. I did spot some holiday Essie polishes though. I must say Essie's holiday offerings don't really read holiday to me, but this glitter stood out.

Summit of Style over OPI Steady As She Rose

 Summit of Style is a mix of bronze glitters in a clear base.

Color: What made this stand out to me was the color. I have plenty of gold and silver glitter toppers. I even have copper glitter toppers, but bronze? Nope! This is new to me glitter topper color. I like it!

Formula: Excellent formula. I used 2 coats above. The glitter apply easily and evenly.

Price: I paid $8.50 for this at Walgreens.

Overall: Beautiful bronze glitter topper. No, this isn't the most spectacular creation in nail polish as far as innovation, but it's good. The color is different from other glitter toppers out there, and the formula is really nice. I like Summit of Style a lot.

I'm very excited for this post. Last year, you might remember I was part of Silly Bee's Chickadee's The Gift of Melly for the holiday season. My polish inspiration this year comes from one of my all time favorite movies, The Sound of Music. This is not what many consider a holiday movie, but when I was younger I always watched this movie around holiday time. I can always count on the songs from The Sound of Music to lift my spirits, especially "My Favorite Things". This is where my polish idea comes from...

My charity of choice this year is the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando. If you follow me on Instagram you may notice my kitty posts on Wednesdays and Fridays. I spend my Wednesday and Friday mornings at the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando as a Kitty Cuddler and Kennel Coach. My responsibilities are to socialize animals, help potential adopters, and enrich shelter cats lives with treats and activities. The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando is an immense and meaningful part of my life. The staff and other volunteers all have tremendous hearts when dealing with animals and the community. Steph's Silver White Winters is a mix of silver holographic glitters, satin aqua glitters, satin baby blue glitters, and micro iridescent glitter in a clear base.

I used one thick coat over a base on all of these. I recommend dabbing this polish on the nail for coverage in one coat.
