Rimmel Salon Pro Britpop

Nail polish prices just keep going up. The average drugstore nail polish price range a few years ago was probably $3-$5 range, now it's more like $4.50-$8. The mainstream polishes were in the $5-$8 range, now everything seems to be $7-$10. I've grown accustomed to the price increase, but it's so nice to find quality nail polishes at a lower price in the drugstore.

I came across these new Rimmel Salon Pro polishes a few weeks ago. These have replaced the Lasting Finish Pro line, and are core. I am so impressed with these polishes. These are made with lyrca and said to have gel-shine finish. I will say the color selection is not very unique, but honestly if I was just starting my nail polish collection, I'd want to have these as some of my foundation colors, they're that good! The best part is that they are $2.99 a pop!

Britpop

Britpop is a bright teal creme.

Color: This color is one of the Kate Moss inspired shades. This color is bright and saturated. I'm sure there are other teals like this, but this is an awesome color.

Formula: The formula on this was excellent. I found the formula to be really buttery, smooth, and creamy (No this isn't food, but it applied like buttah!). I used 2 coats above. The brush is shorter/wider, tapered, and covered my nail perfectly in one pass. The formula is so shiny and dried shiny. I have never used proper "gel" polishes, but this seemed gel-like as far as appearance and formulation.

Price: $2.99 each. This is such a great price especially in this day in age. These are currently BOGO 50% off at CVS.

Overall: Can you tell I love this? Britpop rocks! I love being impressed by something. I have 3 other shades I purchased from this line and they're all equally amazing. There are 11 shades in this line, and while no, they're not unique, they're excellent in formula, and great in price. I know in the UK they have more shades in this line. I hope they expand this line in the US or at least release LE collections with new shades! Check out Nouveau Cheap's post to see the displays pics of this line.

Glitt-A-Licia Guest Post: The Lemming

One polish person can understand the severity of this word. This one word will make normal women morph into cut throat savages. This one word is more powerful than desire, stronger than a craving, down right lustful!!!!

The Lemming

Real Life-
A lemming is a cute, small rodent that has a reputation of mindlessly migrating in large groups following their ingrained urge to find a new home. This urge is so strong that they commit mass suicide just to fulfill their desire for a new home.
(FYI-This a 100% complete misconception.)

Polish Life-
A lemming is that one or more unobtainable polish that has you so mesmerized that you will turn into a crazed fangirl who will press refresh 574378052269 times one minute till a restock. A lemming will make words come out of your mouth that would make a sailor blush. A lemming turns mild mannered Bruce Banner like me, into the Hulk. You loose all control!!

Rarely, you can actually score a lemming. Then you feel like you won a gold medal! You feel elation that can make you light headed! Keep in mind, those awesome mind blowing lemming scores are few and far between. Most know the feeling of defeat. Some get sad, some get mad, some get really mad! I mean furious!

I am one of the ones who obsess over a lemming and never seem to be quick enough to score the prize. I get excited, refresh like crazy, then usually wind up eating a pint of ice cream while cursing all the other lemming grabbers.

Ah, but the thrill and excitement of scoring a lemming will always bring me back. Bring me back to restocks, Black Friday, and the day after Christmas sales. I always return even if my heart gets trampled every single time. I will not give up, just like the real life lemming. I just will not give up.

My major Bigfoot lemmings at the moment are Takko Muse, and Takko Kiss the Sky, CbL True Colors, and RBL Black Russian.

The lemmings I am super proud of scoring are Lilypad Lacquer Original True Blood, RBL Aqua Lily, and Lilypad Lacquer Karmeleon.

My very first lemmings were Digital Nails Serenity and Enchanted Freeze Machine.

KBShimmer Spring 2014 Glitters & Holo

I'm so excited for today's post. I have for you the glitters and holo from the KBShimmer Spring 2014 collection. I think you all will love this collection. There are some great traditional spring time shades with some awesome unique shades too. This collection is being released today on KBShimmer's site. Fret not, there is plenty go around, no cartjacking or wait lists/lines! I love that about KBShimmer, easy breezy shopping.

Rush Flower Traffic over KBShimmer Chick Me Out

 Rush Flower traffic is a mix of fuchsia, gold, green, sapphire, and aqua hex and dot metallic glitters in a clear base. (2 coats)

Belle of the Mall

Belle of the Mall is a hot pink-coral jelly base with holographic silver hexes in various sizes. (3 coats)

Daisy About You

Daisy About You is a pale green crelly with neon hex green glitters, purple and lavender hexes, and lavender daisy glitters. (3 coats)

Make My Gray

Make My Gray is a pale grey crelly base with turquoise, gunmetal, pale aqua, and coral glitters. (3 coats)

Laugh Myself Lily

Laugh Myself Lily is a muted jade crelly with holographic gold, pink, silver, lavender, and blue hexes and pink and light aqua dots. (3 coats)

Full Bloom Ahead

Full Bloom Ahead is a white crelly base with fuchsia, navy, teal, gold, and orange hex glitters. (3 coats)

Quick and Flirty

Quick and Flirty is a violet linear holographic. (3 coats)

Colors: Amazing mix of colors in this group. I love the spring-type colors like Laugh Myself Lily, Full Bloom Ahead, Rush Flower Traffic, Quick & Flirty, and Daisy About You. I am blown away with the unique colors like Make My Gray and Belle of the Mall. I am definitely into the coral/silver and coral/grey combo it's so unexpected!

Formula: I found the formulas on most all of these very good and easy to apply. I had the most difficulty with Daisy About You. The daisy glitters did not want to come out for me, and the base was a bit streaky and uneven in application. The rest of them though were awesome!

Price: All of these polishes are $8.75 on the KBShimmer website.

Overall: I think these are excellent glitters. I love the shades and color combinations with the glitters. KBShimmer always meets or exceeds my expectations, and this collection is no exception. If you made me choose my favorites I'd pick Belle of the Mall, Full Bloom Ahead, Make My Gray, and Laugh Myself Lily.

Throwback Thursday: Barielle Falling Star

I almost didn't post this one, because this one is so old I didn't think it was still available for purchase, but it is! What's even funnier is how little I knew about this history this polish. I bought this way after the fact in a blog sale, but while looking it up today I realized this was actually part of a Barielle All Lacquered Up collection. Yes, as in the blogger! I had no idea until now. Where have I been?

Falling Star

Falling Star is a medium blue creme with small copper glitters.

Color: This is the type of color that was ahead of it's time. These brighter bold blues have made a mark in nail polish in the past 3 years, and this came out in 2009. Blue is here to stay. The copper glitters contrast nicely against the blue, to create a unique look.

Collection: Barielle Fall 2009 All Lacquered Up

Formula: This formula was good. I used 2 coats above. The formula is a tad thicker than normal, but it didn't impede application at all.

Price: This can be found on Amazon for $7.99.

Overall: Excellent nail polish! This is one I'm so happy to have in my collection. I don't know of any other polishes like it 5 years down the the line. It's a beautiful color combination, and one to certainly not forget about.

Royal Polish Blooming Into Springtime (4 of 6)

Today, I have for you 4 of the 6 springtime polishes from a new to me indie brand Royal Polish. Royal Polish is 5-free and cruelty free The collection is called Blooming Into Springtime and it features 4 pastel cremes, a crelly glitter, and a glitter topper. 

Carnation Creation

Carnation Creation is a pastel pink creme.

Dancing in the Garden

Dancing in the Garden is a pale pink crelly base with pastel matte and satin glitters mixed throughout.

Robin's Egg

Robin's Egg is a pastel blue creme.

Blossom Blend over Robin's Egg

Blossom Blend is a mix of pastel glitters in a clear base. 

Color: This a is mix of pretty spring time colors. I love the the pastel glitters, they're soft and feminine. The cremes are saturated and exactly what I'm looking for in a pastel polish.

Formula: The formulation on the cremes is hands down the best formula I've ever experienced in pastel cremes in my entire life. These were 2 coats, not streaky, not thick, and so easy to apply! 2 coats on a pastel creme like this is amazing! The crelly glitter and the glitter topper I did have some difficulty with. I did find them to be a bit thick and more challenging to apply. The larger glitters in Dancing in the Garden do tend to sink to the bottom, so I advise letting the bottle sit upside for a few minutes prior to polishing. Blossom Blend was thicker and seemed more suited toward dabbing than painting it on your nails. I'm not accustomed to dabbing, so this was different for me, but I know many people are comfortable with dabbing on glitter. 

Price: The full sizes of these polishes are $8.50 and the entire set of 6 is $45.00 on Royal Polish's Store Envy site. 

Overall: I was so impressed with the cremes in this collection. The superb formulation on the cremes is one for the record books in my experience. I adored them. The glitter topper and crelly glitter I did struggle with application, but are really beautiful glitter combinations for spring.
