Icing Bird of Paradise
I went to the grand opening of the Ulta 5 minutes from me today! I'm so psyched to have an Ulta down the street from me. It could be dangerous though. They were handing out gift certificates and free goody bags. I sadly only got the $5 gift card, some people got $50 and $100 ones. Oh well! I picked up 2 polishes from the OPI fall collection, and one from Butter London. I met up with Kari from Once Bitten while I was there. It was fun, but it started to get really hot in there with all the people.
Today, I have for you an Icing polish I got recently. I like the few Icing polishes I have. I don't really like going in the store. It's one of those places they kind of hound you about buying stuff. They immediately hand you a basket, and I instantly feel obligated to buy something. I'm too nice. I did find this pretty there, I just wish it wasn't so sheer!
Bird of Paradise
This took 5 coats! :-/
This is 2 coats over Zoya Keiko
Bird of Paradise is a sheer red-violet with golden iridescent glitter.
I so wish this wasn't so sheer, because I absolutely love this color. I was hoping this was going to be a purple version of Cult Nails Captivated. It sadly isn't, Captivated is a 2-3 coater to get full pigmentation, and this one isn't even worth layering up the 5 coats to get even get slight pigmentation. It does look very pretty layered. This is definitely one of the prettiest layering glitters I own. I love the golden iridescent glitter!
Happy Friday!

Color Club What A Shock
Sometimes, there are colors you just look at, and you can't help but say "This isn't gonna happen!". I try to be open-minded with colors. If nail polish were free, I'd gladly try any color, but since it's not I do have some limitations. This Color Club is one of those instances where I just draw the line. This one came in a set of other pretty colors, so that's the only reason I have it!
What A Shock
What A Shock is a neon green shimmer.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this color, as a color. In fact, I really love it. I'd love this color as a lamp shade, toothbrush (I actually do have neon green toothbrush), pencil, and etc. This just as a nail polish color on me is just a major no, unless it's Halloween. I don't have a problem with other people wearing this color, just not me. Neons are probably the only finish of polish I'm really shy about. Green polish in general can be iffy with me. The combination of these two doesn't make for a good mix. I can't help but think of radioactive snot, I just don't find it flattering at all.
Do you have any colors you steer clear of?

Talk It Out Tuesday: Why do you love nail polish?
I really enjoyed last week's "Blogging Revelations" post. It was a really engaging post, which is something I'd like to do more on this blog. I'm going to test out a new weekly post that will be conversation based . I'll have a new topic every week that will be in regards to blogging, polish, beauty, or any other topics, I know we all can relate to. I'd love to see some chatter in the comment section too amongst you all. I think this is a fun way to get to know each other better outside of just swatch pictures and reviews. This may not work out, but I figured I'd give it a try!
Todays Topic: Why do you love nail polish?
I know we all love the colors and the selection, but is there a deeper reason for your attraction to nail polish? Did it help you kick a nail biting habit? Did you help you break out of your shell?
Please let me know in the comment section!
My answer:
I'm kind of fashion-challenged or maybe fashion-phobic. I don't follow trends, I have no idea what is "in" and what is "out". I've also never been a flashy dresser or someone who is out of the box as far as appearance. I'm not entirely comfortable with it all, though I definitely admire others who are. I love people rocking pink hair, rainbow eye makeup, and etc. It's just not for me, but I do like to show off my love for the funky and creative in small doses. How do I do this? Nail polish..duh! I love glitters, vampy colors, pastels, holographic, and etc. Nail polish is definitely how I show off my creative, fashionable, and outgoing side.
Also, I'm the type of person who goes to Home Depot and is drawn to the section of the store with all the wall paint samples. I pick out a bunch just because of the colors. I was always like this rainbows of colors always attracted me. I always needed the 96 box of Crayola crayons. I always wanted xyz in every color. I just love colors. I love to look at colors! Nail polish is the perfect medium of a wide range of wearable colors. Plus, nail polish is so affordable. You don't have to drop down a ton of money on clothes, makeup, or hair color, or shoes to make it happen. You can have any color for a reasonable price.
I'd say those are my top reasons for loving polish outside of the obvious reasons.
What are yours?

Sinful Colors Beverly Hills
I'm alive! I'm sorry I've been MIA. I'll do Zoya bottle spam this upcoming Saturday. My parents were in town this weekend, and they just left. I miss them already :(. I'm close with my parents, and I always enjoy their visits, even if they are short. We had a nice time! We did some shopping, and I got some more polish for my belated birthday!
Yes, I do have some polish for you today! This a new one from Sinful Colors. You know I can' resist lilac/lavender shades!
Beverly Hills
Beverly Hills is a pastel lilac creme.
I love the color, the formula not so much. I've done a few Sinful Colors swatches lately, and I'm noticing that the formula on them is not so great. It applies streaky, and dries uneven. Yes, I do my swatches quickly, but I don't notice this uneveness with other brands. I really have only noticed this with the newer Sinful Colors polishes I've purchased, the ones with the "SC" on the cap. I know some people have always had issues with Sinful Colors, but I'm wondering if they changed their formula or something? Anyone else having similar issues?
I hope I'll be back to normal posting. We're having our cable/internet upgraded tomorrow, and you know how sometimes those things go. Hopefully everything will go smoothly! I miss blogger world!
Happy Monday!
