Way-Cool Mani Wednesday: Lavender Soft Glow

I'm really trying to break out some of my old polishes for manis lately. I forget what I have, and some of the stuff I have is great. The CND Effects were released I believe in 2011. They're a bunch of shimmer, pearl, and sparkle sheer top coats that really transformed bases. These were not any hum-drum top coats either, they were pretty spectacular. Sadly, these are HTF now, but I had to show you one I used for this week's mani!

KBShimmer Spring 2014 Cremes & Holo Topper (Pic Heavy)

Today, I have for you the second part of the KBShimmer Spring 2014 collection. This part of the collection has 7 bright or soft creme shades, 1 black creme, and 1 holographic top coat. 

Chick Me Out

Touch of Glass

Touch of Glass is a soft aqua mint creme with a subtle shimmer. (3 coats) *NOTE: Shimmer is virtually undetectable on nail in real life.

Prism Break is a subtle linear holographic top coat (I used one coat over the bases in all the swatches above).

Color: This is a excellent collection of staple creme shades that every collection needs. That being said, some of these are not unique shades, but all are excellent as far as color pigmentation and saturation. I also like the mix of the bolder/brighter shades with softer shades. Prism Break is an gorgeous soft holo top coat, that stands out on dark shades, and gives soft touch of bling to the lighter shades. 

Formula: The formula on this selection was creamy and overall a good. The darker shades needed only 2 coats, while I found the lighter shades could use 3. Chick Me Out being yellow, was a bit tricky, but I was able to get it even and opaque in 3 coats. 

Price: All the creme shades are $7.50. Prism Break is $8.75. These all can be found on KBShimmer's website. 

Overall: I really enjoyed these cremes. They are pigmented, the formula is creamy and easy to apply, and this is a great balance of colors for a collection. The colors are not the most unique, but I think these would be excellent foundation polishes for any collection. My personal faves are Touch of Glass, Pansy-Monium, My Life's Porpoise, and Life Rose On.

Throwback Thursday: Sinful Colors Cream Pink

I have for you one of my first ever Sinful Colors polishes, Cream Pink. This is probably one of less than handful of nail polish colors I've actually needed a backup bottle. I love this color, and it has remained a favorite of mine over the years. 

Cream Pink

Cream Pink is a hot pink with a subtle golden shimmer.

Color: This is a neon shade, but it's not one of those neon shades that is blindingly bright. Cream Pink is bright, but it's nothing crazy. I love the shade of pink, and the golden shimmer is the perfect addition, and not something I typically see added to bright colors like this.

Collection: Core

Formula: This is a nice and easy to use formula. I used 3 coats above.

Price: I believe this is still part of the Sinful Colors core line, as I see it listed on their website. This should be $2.00 at Walgreens, however, if I'm wrong, if you do a internet search of this it's available on various e-tailers in the $3.00-$5.00 range. 

Overall: Cream Pink is perfect happy bright pink, that you really cannot go wrong with. I love the golden shimmer, and finds it adds a unique touch. The formula is great, and it's one of those colors that really doesn't go out of style. Perfect pedi summer color too.

Way-Cool Mani Wednesday: Summer Before Spring

I was having an epic mani fail day this past Sunday. I put on probably 5 or 6 colors, and was unsatisfied with everything. I was putting on a lot of medium purples. I then put on a purple holo, thinking a holo would do me wrong. Nope, wasn't thrilled. I decided to go in the opposite direction, and go for something blindly bright and some what obnoxious. That did the trick, and I found my mani for the week.

Polishes Used: Jesse's Girl Carolina Beach, Julie G Cabana Boy, and Essie Shine of the Times.

I think I may of been in a polish rut. I was painting my nails similar colors a lot lately and all in medium tones. This bright neon coral brought me out of the funk, and maybe into summer before spring even has begun. Oh well! This mani makes me happy, and ready to break out the more fun colors again!

I Love Nail Polish Dreaming in Violet

Have you ever wanted to give up on a brand based on a first impression?

I have to be honest, my first impression of ILNP was not a good one. When the brand first came out I was not a fan of the brushes and found the formula had a very strong chemical smell. I pretty much had my mind up that this wasn't going to be a brand I would shop again

First impressions can be wrong. People/things can change, and end up exceeding your expectations. ILNP is definitely one of those brands. I do believe the brushes have changed, and the formula certainly has, as I cannot smell it anymore. Also , ILNP creates some of the beautifully innovative nail colors out there. So, let's give it a try again.

When I heard ILNP was creating spring pastel holos, I was so on board. Pastel holos really have no been done before at least not successfully, and I wanted some of that action. I ended up snagging 5 from that collection, and I have Dreaming in Violet for you today.

Dreaming in Violet

 Dreaming in Violet is muted radiant orchid soft linear holo.

Color: This is in the radiant orchid family. I see so many lavender blue-toned purple being called radiant orchid, and no, that's not orchid. Dreaming in Violet isn't the exact Pantone shade, but it is in the same spectrum, so it fits! Gorgeous color. The holo is soft, but definitely shows. I prefer this as I think if it were stronger, it would detract from the pastel-like quality of the shade.

Formula: Good easy to use formula. I used 3 coats in the swatch above.

Price: This is $10.00 on ILNP's site.

Overall: This is a beautiful polish, and definitely satisfies my pastel holo craving! I'm impressed with the formula, and all around impressed now with ILNP offerings and the brand.
