I'm pretty sure it's safe to say, that among all the love the Zoya Ornate collection this collection did not woo me. I tried to like it. I went as far as to buy them in hopes of loving them, but I just can't. Blaze was OK, and Aurora really did not cut it for me. What about Storm though?
Storm
Storm is black with a scattered holographic shimmer/glitter mixed in.
No, I don't like this. I know why now too. It's the glitter/shimmer mix going on in it along with Aurora. The glitters do not have a rough texture, but they look rough in the polish. Does this make sense? They do not look like smooth shiny glitters. They look like tiny pieces of jagged foil thrown in there. I'm such a huge polish snob, I realize this. The glitter in this does not do it for me. The polish looks more speckled than anything. This color looks flat to me. I know you all will think I'm crazy for saying this. I just can't like it. I'm sorry :(.
Don't worry this is the last of the Zoya Ornate colors I have, so I won't have anymore to bash. :P
Happy Wednesday!
If you can believe this or not...I bought the same three, feel the same way and I think I'm going to sell mine. I bought Logan too, but I haven't used it so I don't know how I feel about that one. I didn't get Ziv. These just didn't wow me, at all. I was quite disappointed actually. :(
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm just addicted to anything sparkly because the jagged glitters don't bother me one bit! SPARKLE!
ReplyDeletesad that this collection didn't do it for you, steph, but you can't win them all. just send your rejects my way. j/k :) i haven't tried this one yet but i loved blaze and i love black holo glitter so i think i will like this one. and they are just so sparkly. hopefully your next try is more to your liking.

I hate the way scattered holographic polish dries to a flat looking finish. Have you tried a topcoat that does not contain adipic acid to see if you like the polish? Adipic acid gives that same finish so you would not want to use a topcoat that has that if you're trying to avoid that effect.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?!?!? You didn't like it?! Kidding! Thats the joy of nail polish, a bazillion colors out there to play with. =)
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad. I know I encounter polishes that most bloggers seem to go gaga over and when I wear it, I'm like..."That's it? What am I missing?"
ReplyDeleteI wasn't very thrilled with Storm either. Most of the swatches I had seen made it look like this beautiful, sparkly black, like it was the night sky or something, and it just... wasn't. Like you said, it was flat.
ReplyDeleteIt's so funny how we're all so different. I really loved this one and found the glitter to be super prominent!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that the holographic glitter in Storm loses its prismatic effect in less than 24 hours. I loved it last night when I applied it, but today the black was flat and dull and the glitter was silver but without any lustre? I reapplied another coat on the one nail and the effect returned. Any idea what's up with this? It's my only polish from this collection...
