Avon Sequined Turquoise

If you were to ask me a few months ago if I thought Avon had cool nail polish, I would of said no. This has changed, Avon has really started to put out some amazing on trend colors. What I also realized I loved about Avon is their prices. They usually are having some type of sale or offer going on, so you can get a lot of bang for your buck. This was one of their holiday polishes from 2011, and it is an eye opener!

Sequined Turquoise

Sequined Turquoise is a rich teal glass fleck.

This is not a dupe do the Zoya Charla and those other colors. This color is darker. This one sparkles like crazy! I had no idea it was that sparkly! I love it. The only sad part about this -hides-, is it was limited edition, and I cannot find it on the Avon site anymore. I debated showing it to you guys, but it was too pretty not to! That being said, I have found it on eBay for reasonable prices, so it's not completely unobtainable!

On a side note, if you're interested in Avon products, I recommend going to my friend Alyssa's Avon page. She is an Avon Rep and a nail polish blogger. She is very knowledgeable about Avon products, and can help you find anything you're interested in or answer your questions!

Happy Wednesday!

Talk It Out Tuesday: Indie Nail Polish

Just when I thought it's all been done, something new an innovative pops up that I never thought of before. I know we're familiar with frankening. I remember the first well known frankener Dr. Frankenpolish (how I miss thee), however, I could of never imagined people actually making larger quantities of their own polish and selling it. First of all, I didn't think you could. I still don't know where people get the supplies! What surprised me even more is the creativity of some of these indie polish ladies. They've created polishes I never could of thought of or dreamed up myself. I can honestly say, I've never been so excited about nail polish until the indie craze.

I want to be clear with this, when I mention indie, I'm talking about the people who are selling their own homemade polishes through etsy or their blogs. I know indie can reference a wide group of people, but for this post I'm talking about the people who can only sell on the smaller scale. I'd kind of like to leave Lynnderella out of this too, I can see that one brand consuming this conversation, when there are so many others that are drama free and are worth talking about. :)

Overall, I am really impressed with the indie polishes. I've had a few misses with a some brands. I did not really like the formulation, but for every maybe 2-3 I didn't like there were 8-10 I did. I do worry about the longevity of this indie polish thing because they are having difficult acquiring the lacquer base. I hope that can be sorted out! I also worry about if there will ever be easier ways to purchase these without so much of the fuss. I know there are limited quantities, but sometimes it can seem like Black Friday trying to get these polishes. I see that especially with etsy, where depending on how fast you pay the polish you added to your cart can quickly slip out of your grasp. There are definitely a few kinks with indie brands, but I hope as time goes on it will become a smoother process! In the meantime, I'm all for this indie polish thing! I hope it sticks!

What are your thoughts on the indie polishes? Do you like the them? Do you have any concerns about them?  Have you thought about starting your own shop?

or

Do you have an indie polish shop? What have your experiences been with making polishes and selling them?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and comments. It would be great too if any indie shop owners can share their experience with us!

Happy Tuesday!

Ulta Blue Streak

I've been on a bright blue kick lately. You know who got me into bright blues? Joan Rivers. Have you seen the nail polish this woman wears? She rocks all kinds of funky colors, and she's 78 years old! I hope I can be as awesome as she is at 78! Anyways, I saw her wearing this in your face bright medium blue creme one day, and I've have my eye out on bright blues ever since. This Ulta polish was one of the first bright blues I picked up.

Ulta Blue Streak

Blue Streak is a bright medium blue creme.

I love love love this color. You know that meme "Buy all the polish!". I'm very much "buy all the bright blues" ! This color is great, and you may get lucky if you check out your Ulta's clearance section, I found this one in their older square bottles for around $2.00. :)

What are some of your favorite bright blues? I only have a few (this one, OPI Dating a Royal, and an LA Girls one), and could use some more recommendations.  I'm DYING to get my hands on Nails Inc. Baker Street! Let me know your favorites in the comments!
