Jordana Purple Glam--My Nail Polish Pet Peeve

I've come to the conclusion that I have a nail polish pet peeve. There are few things about polishes that irritate me.... too thin formula, too thick formula, long drying time, and etc. That's part of the game, so I can manage, but colors like the following really tick me off. They seem like cop outs.

Jordana Purple Glam

Purple Glam is a purple frosty shimmer with holographic glitter and holographic bar glitter.

This is probably very picky, but this formula is crap. It's patchy and inconsistent, but what I hate most is they've taken an already ugly color (thanks to the frosty finish) and loaded it with glitter as if that makes it look better. No, fail. This is a gritty ugly mess. You cannot save ugly frosty colors by adding glitter. I believe some Sally Hansen Xtreme Wears this past fall attempted to do the same thing. It just looks like they got lazy and couldn't figure out how to save a color, so they threw some glitter in it.

I know you're thinking, why did you buy this then? Well, in the bottle I just saw glitter. Glitter has some power of me, so I'm drawn to it. As that famous saying goes "all that glitters is not gold". I think this is the situation here. Oh well.

Before I go..you must feast your eyes on this insane amount of cuteness!
I saw this picture online last night, and I've become obsessed with how freaking cute it is. If you're having a bad day this picture brings instant happiness!

Happy Tuesday!

Franken Figment of the Imagination

This next franken was made by Chris over at Lacquer Ware for Tips and Toes. She is definitely one of the franken masters in the nail polish blogging world. This next color is a spectacular holographic greatness. She doesn't remember how she made it, but I'm going to guess her body was momentarily taken over by some magical fairy princess with special powers because it's that great..or Chris is a magical fairy princess?

Figment of the Imagination
Figment of the Imagination is a medium purple that leans slightly to the red scattered glitter holo.

Yeah, I'm pretty blown away. this holo is just as good as the China Glaze Kaleidoscopes. I named this color. This color reminded me of Figment the dragon, from the "Journey into the Imagination" ride at Disney Epcot.

He's a rather silly, slightly annoying dragon, but cute nonetheless. I thought the name fit! :)

Thank you Chris!!!

I'm just going to do a small blurb of this since I'm sure you all have seen it enough, but Zoya is doing a BOGO free promo on their summer colors. If you're interested in these I'd suggest taking advantage of this offer

Happy Monday!

China Glaze Life Preserver

I really shouldn't be posting. I'm half way done with my major research paper, and I promised myself no nail related stuff until I'm done...Oops! I just hate going 2 days in row without blogging. I've had the same manicure on since Monday which is scary for me, because I change my polish every 2-3 days. I have to finish this paper today or I'm going to go crazy! Anywho here is a pretty from the recent China Glaze collection.

Life Preserver
Life Preserver is a medium poppy-orange creme.

This color is very hard to describe. I consider it unique at least to me, because many of the oranges I own are either vibrant bright oranges or lean towards corals. This definitely has a muted quality to it. It kind of reminds me of when they sell those orange bell peppers at the store. I'll leave it at that. I really like this color though, it's interesting, but in a good way!

I'm so sorry about not being able to keep up with comments and stuff right now. I definitely read all of your comments! As soon as I'm done with my major paper, I will have so much more time. Thanks for bearing with me! :) <3

Happy Saturday!

Sally Hansen Gentle Blossom

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We all know what the means. It's time for some green. Greens and I don't have the strongest of polish relationships, but a few of us get along well. My biggest green struggle is those in the mint category. I don't think this next Sally Hansen color and I play well together, but it was worth a try.

Gentle Blossom
Gentle Blossom is a light mint green with a silvery shimmer.

I don't know, this just isn't working for me. This looks too stark against my skin. I also found the color to look a bit "chalky", which can happen with some pastel shades. This color makes my hands look red as anything :-/. It's a shame because the color itself is beautiful. As of now the only mint green that works for me is Sinful Colors Mint Apple. I decided to wear Mint Apple today instead.

Happy Thursday!

Pink Wednesday--Color Club Electro Candy

"On Wednesdays We Wear Pink" is a quote from the movie Mean Girls. I saw a few bloggers started this "Pink Wednesday" trend as an ode to this awesome movie. I decided to join in, you can too if you click on the link! :) I remember clearly seeing Mean Girls when it came out. I saw it with my 3 closest friends Molly, Lisa, and Rachel I believe a few days before our high school graduation. This movie has spurred countless inside jokes ever since. I also remember this was the movie while exiting the theater I tripped on the last step and sprained my ankle, but it was well worth it!

Not only do I like "Pink Wednesdays" for the Mean Girls reference, but I like it because pinks sometimes get brushed aside in the nail blogging world. I know of plenty of bloggers who don't care for pink or don't find pink original enough. I'm a pink fan, and I think Pink Wednesdays is a fun way to get some great pink polishes out there!

Without further ado...

Color Club Electro Candy
Electro Candy is a neon hot pink with a blue-violet-green micro shimmer.

This is a great pink. Normally, I'm more of a fan of neon cremes, but I'm really loving this neon with shimmer. It's the perfect amount of shimmer it's not overdone and really enhances the color without overwhelming it. I recommend it. I got this one in the Color Club Electro Candy set at Ross. The set was $8 total. Great deal for 6 polishes + a top coat.

Happy Pink Wednesday!
