China Glaze Naked

Do you ever purchase a color that you're not over the moon about, but end up using it a lot? I often find bottles in my stash that are half empty that are not necessarily stellar colors, but I must gravitate towards them for some reason. This is how it is with this China Glaze color.

Naked

Naked is a lighter toned warm pink with silvery micro-shimmer throughout.

I'd assume it would be a more nude type shade considering the name, but it has brightness and light to it without being overbearing. I think that's why I use this one so much. It's one of those colors that can go with anything you'd wear. I guess I'd categorize it as a "go to" color. I never realized how much I liked it until I realized how versatile it was. I also like it because it reminds me of strawberry icing..which makes me want cake! :P This is part of the China Glaze core line so you can find it easily. I'd recommend this one if you're looking for a great everyday pink with an extra pop to it!

Happy Sunday!

Borghese Rossi Apple

Borghese is a brand of polish that retails pretty high in drugstores. They are usually around $8. To be quite honest I have not been entirely impressed with them. It's something about their formula. It seems to drag on my nails after I've done one coat. It doesn't apply as smoothly as I would like. I've also had some high expectations with some colors that didn't turn out as nice as I would of expected. The price that they're sold at and the experience I've had with this brand is disappointing to me. This is just me though. I'm sure there are others who love this brand.

Rossi Apple

Rossi Apple is a deep pinky/red shimmer.

Meh. I don't have much to say about this. It's not very original. I wanted to like this because it is more a pink/red for the fall season.  It's a pretty color, but it doesn't wow me. I feel like it's way too "blah". I don't know if I feel this way because the shade is really "blah" or I'm just becoming more picky with colors. I have lots of reds and pinks, so I always look for something I don't have. I suspect this why I'm not thrilled with this one. It looked cool in the bottle, but on the nail it was just yawn worthy. It's very "been there..done that"!

What do you think of Borghese polishes? Any favorites?

Happy Friday!

Zoya Maura

Reminder: There is just a little less than week left to enter my Holiday Giveaway!

As I mentioned yesterday I had difficulty picking out Zoyas for my previous order. If you follow me on Twitter you may have noticed last week I was obsessively asking questions about which colors to get. One of the more challenging decisions was between two Zoya red cremes Zoya America and Zoya Maura. There are swatches of this online, but every picture is different so it's hard to determine which one you want! This recent Zoya sale was also difficult because you didn't have the time to order the Zoya spoons to test out the colors.

My biggest thing is I adore red polishes, but I don't want to get dupe of something I already have. I went back and forth between America and Maura for a few days and finally decided on Maura. I haven't seen comparison swatches of these side by side, so I'm not sure how different they are, but I got the impression Maura was a brighter more vibrant version of America.

Maura

Maura is a bright warm tomato red creme.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Maura is from the recent summer Flash collection.  I have true red cremes, cool-toned red cremes, but I didn't have any warm-toned red cremes. This is a great vibrant red with a hint of orange to it. :) I'm wearing it now. It's probably to bright for fall, but I was getting kind of tired of the darker colors for the time being.

Happy Thursday!

Zoya Goodies & Scary Statues

Before I get into the Zoya goodies. I have to talk about scary statues briefly. My BF and I late at night watch sci-fi series. We've watched all of the Star Trek series and we moved on to Doctor Who.This show is about time travel and has sci-fi aspects. I really enjoy it. If there are scarier elements it's usually balanced out with some silliness and humor, so it's all good. I don't do scary. Well, there was this one episode last night that was pure scary. I won't give it away but it had to do with these really creepy/terrifying  "weeping angel" statues moving around when you weren't looking changing their face expressions into absolutely terrifying demon-like ones. It was AWFUL. No sleep for me. Blech. Scary and I don't sit well. I'll live though, but I have no interest in seeing statues anytime soon.

On to Zoya goodies which equal happiness! This is just a recent haul of Zoya's I got during the Halloween special where you got 3 extra colors with an order and their BOGO free sale. Enjoy the pretties!

Danielle, Gigi, Tiffany, & Gloria

Gabrielle, Milla, Maura, & Gilda

Ivanka, Akyra, Edyta, Tallulah, & Raven

Delilah, Savita (this color is absolutely amazing), Valerie, & Trixie

Those are the goodies I got. I will be posting swatches of these in the upcoming days and weeks. I was happy with my selection. I have difficult time picking out Zoyas because I can only purchase them online. I find Scrangie's collection of Zoya swatches to be VERY helpful.

That's all for today!

Have a happy and creepy statue free Wednesday!

UPS Rant

This is a non-nail polish related angry rant at UPS. If you don't want to read me rant about UPS, you probably don't want to read this. GRRRRRR

Ok, so UPS has seriously lost their mind. I had ordered some Bath & Body Works products a week ago and they shipped them UPS. I correctly listed my address. I always check this to make sure. It was being sent UPS and yesterday it said it was "Out for Delivery". Yay! I love getting pacakges..but no...

Around 5:30pm the status updated to "EXCEPTION- UPS is looking for the correct street address". So, I'm like WTF? I checked the invoice again, and the address is listed correctly. I've lived in the same exact address for almost 4 years and I get 2-3 packages from UPS a month without any problems. I live in an apartment complex which I can understand makes things more confusing, but this has NEVER been an issue ever. I've always received my packages.

I call the UPS center here and explained my situation.  I verified the address with the lady and she said that is what is listed in the computer and she would call the driver. I know for sure that even before a package is mailed through the UPS system the address has to be confirmed as an accurate address. My Dad has a business and uses UPS to ship and he verified this too through his system with my address to make sure. Everything was correct. The lady on the phone said she'd call me right back.

2 hours later... I get a call from the person at UPS telling me the same driver who has serviced this area for 10 years cannot find my address. He was in the apartment...he found my apartment number, but said it wasn't in the building it was supposed to be in? There are no other buildings in this complex with my apartment number.

This makes absolutely no sense to me. I went outside and checked my building and address number..nothing has changed. Did I slip into another dimension? Am I in a episode of Twilight Zone, Doctor Who, Star Trek, or Candid Camera? I love how UPS talks to me as if I'm the one who has lost my mind. How can a driver who I've had visit my apartment to deliver packages almost 100 times in 4 years not be able to find my apartment anymore?

I have a feeling UPS is lying to me. I think either this was a different driver OR the driver wanted to leave early so he put in that he couldn't find the address.... They are going to try and re-deliver today. I had to give them more specific direction. What floor I was on...what side of the building I was on..really? We'll see...I just know if this was nail polish I'd be way more pissed off....

What gives UPS?

We'll see if it's a "Happy Tuesday!" :P
