N.Y.C. Polish Swatches

I got a request from Tanya her blog is visions in color to do a swatch of some N.Y.C. colors. I only have around 4 so I decided to do a whole post for them.

Times Square Tangerine Creme

This photographed a little darker than it actually is. The bottle picture is the most accurate. This is a true orange creme. It's not too bright and not muted. I like this color a lot and for 99 cents you can't really go wrong!

Fuchsia Shock Creme

I wouldn't call this fuchsia, but it's a medium pink bubble gum creme. It's a pretty creme. It's a bright color, but it's not neon or fluorescent.

Charming Rose Creme

This is my problem with N.Y.C. This is obviously not a creme, yet it is labeled that way? The same goes for some other polishes I've seen in stores. This is what I'd call a muave frost. This is a pretty color, but honestly not one I'd really reach for in my stash. It's OK.

Canal Street

I'd call this maroon-brown with gold shimmer throughout. I love this color! These type of shades are my favorite for fall and winter I love them on my tips and toes. I had a bit of trouble with the application of this though. I'm not sure what it was but it seemed to go on dry and streaky. I didn't apply it any different than I'd apply any other polish. This is a fast drying polish so I think if I applied it a bit thicker and didn't wait as much between coats it would of gone on more smoothly. The overall result looks great though you couldn't tell I had trouble!

That's it for my N.Y.C. swatches. I hope this helps you out Tanya! Thank you for your requests! If anyone has any other requests make sure the check out My Stash and send me an email letting me know what you'd like to see!

Have a great Saturday!

Essie Resort Collection

I must admit I'm not crazy about Essie polishes. I think they make great quality polishes, but for their price many of their collections and coreline colors are very dupable and not what I'd consider unique. That all being said the Resort Collection is a definite exception. I got 3 out of the 4 of these polishes. I skimped out on Playa del Platinum because that color didn't catch my eye. I also am not one to post new collections on here because I know you all have probably seen these a billion times on other blogs, but this is an excellent collection I'm thrilled about and definitely recommend!

I ended up getting this for a GREAT price. In stores and many e-tailers these are $8 each. I got these for an average of $4 a bottle from Nail Beauty 4U which is a webstore through Amazon. I was skeptical, but I did some research and haven't heard anything bad from them. They also have very good feedback on Amazon so I went for it. It worked out great. I got a great price and these were shipped to me quickly!

L-R: Turquiose & Caicos, Splash of Grenadine, & Lapis of Luxury
These shades are beautiful and unique. I have looked through other blogs and stores and I have yet to find a clear dupe of any of these. These are great colors for summer. My only complaint is the first coat is very sheer, but with 3 coats you get full coverage.

Splash of Grenadine

I don't know why this is called Grenadine because most of know Grenadine is bright cherry red syrup they put in drinks, but who cares! This color is beautiful light pink-toned purple creme. It reminds me of the color of orchids.

Lapis of Luxury

Pretty ain't it? I'd say this a light cornflower blue creme. I wish I had more words to describe this color, but I think it speaks for itself. I don't own or know of any colors similar to this.

Turquiose & Caicos

What a cute name! This is the color that got me into this collection. It is a aquamarine creme. I've seen a lot of people ask if this is a mint green or a dupe of China Glaze For Audrey. It is neither, it is definitely a green-blue and it is greener than For Audrey. It's a one-of-kind shade.

Overall, I love this collection. Essie did a great job with the not only the shades, but the naming of this collection. These really depict a "resort" to me. It reminds me of being in Hawaii at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort with the beautiful colors of the flowers and the ocean. Don't you love it when colors can whisk you away like that? If only I had the $$$ I'd really whisk myself away there now and take all of you with me! We could sip Pina Coladas by the beach, go snorkeling, hiking, get wined and dined...ok..ok..enough I'm sorry.. :P

What do you all think of this collection? Do you have any of these shades? Are you thinking about getting them?

Summer Reds!!!

I think reds sometimes get a bad rap in the nail polish world. I can understand why, there are many reds created that are not that interesting or unique. However, there are also plenty of amazing reds out there that are staples in many peoples nail stashes (i.e. China Glaze Ruby Pumps). Reds to me never screamed out to be a summer color, but there are many reds out there that are perfect for summer. I'm going just post a few I think would look hot this season.

Wet n' Wild Red Tape

This definitely the most "red" polish I'll be posting today. It is a bright warm red creme. It is definitely a stand out color.

Rimmel Hot Rock

This is a red-orange jelly-like color with gold glass fleck glitter throughout. This is a very shimmery red.

China Glaze Mediterranean Charm

This is a bright pink-toned red creme. This is probably my go-to polish. It isn't my favorite, but it is that color I go to when I'm not sure what I want to wear. I think it goes great with anything.

Zoya Elke

-Drools- Elke is a pink-toned red with gold shimmer throughout. This is probably my favorite nail polish of all time tied with China Glaze Strawberry Fields. I can see why this looks like a red version of Strawberry Fields. This color is stunning! I wish Zoya would rename this color Stephanie instead of their current Stephanie which is pale sheer color :P.

Off topic side note: Have you all noticed there are A LOT of nail bloggers named Stephanie? I've come across a ton since blogging!

That's all for today. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Sally Hansen Bright Cremes & First Helmer!

Sorry if anyone noticed a post before this that was blank. I don't know what happened!

Today I'm going to share with you some Sally Hansen bright cremes I've come across. Summer screams cremes to me. I'm always drawn towards bright creme colors! I used to never be into cremes I was purely a shimmer/glitter girl until the past few months. I think it's the change in weather. I tend to go for more glitters and shimmers when it is cooler out.

Fuchsia Power

This is medium bright pink creme. My bottle has seen better days as you can see. :P

Blew Me Away

This is a true sky blue creme. I want to apologize for my sloppy application. This is not the polishes fault. I put on my second coat too soon and I didn't notice the awful photo until after I had taken it off and started editing my pictures. This does go on smoothly within 2-3 coats just make sure you wait a minute or two before applying the second coat.

Flamingo/Flamingio

This is a bright pinky-red-coraly creme. I am not great at describing colors as you can tell. I think this would look great on your tips or toes. The one thing I don't get about this polish is the name. On my bottle is says it is called "Flamingio"

However, when I go to search this polish under "Flamingio" I get nothing I get results for "Flamingo" which is the exact same polish. So, either my polish was named wrong or people are not reading their polishes carefully. Either way they should just call it Flamingo what the heck is a Flamingio anyways?

I went to IKEA today. I live 5 minutes from IKEA it has been in business near me since November 2008, yet I have not purchased a Helmer. Currently, I've been using wire-mesh 3 basket file cabinet that has not served as great storage. I have to mix colors in one bin and everything gets all jumbled. However, today is an new day I now have a Helmer!

I organized everything by color Pinks, Reds, Oranges/Yellows/Nudes, Blues/Greens, Purples, Blacks/Whites/Glitters/Layering Topcoats. Above is picture of my pink drawer I have 50+ pinks and I still have room to spare in there. This things holds a lot. I believe it holds around 500 polishes! I have about half of that so this works out well! I love my Helmer!

Have a great day!

Purple Passion Part 2 & Mini Ramble

Here is Part 2 of the purples I'm loving right now!

China Glaze LOL-is a dark holographic purple! This is the same type of holo as IDK just darker.

Orly Wild Wistera-is a dark purple creme I think it verges on a blurple. It's a rich color. I love these dark cremes!

Sally's Girl Your Majesty-is a med-dark bright purple creme. I think this is one of those that is a cousin/sister/brother-in law/uncle/cousins mom's aunt to OPI Funky Dunkey, China Glaze Grape Pop, Orly Charged Up, RBL Mismas and all those other med-dark bright purple cremes this season! :P

Zoya Zara love love love this color. This is a definite Zoya must have! This is a lavender shimmer with gold shimmer throughout. It is gorgeous!

-Ramble/Rant beginning- feel free to skip over this! I'm not one to usually talk about personal stuff that bugs me, but I figure this is pretty light-hearted.

I learned a lesson today, if you like/love something, it's not a good idea to be curious and ask others with they think about it. I learned this the hard way today and it's my own fault. I saw summery purse at TJ Maxx for $10. I liked it a lot it was cute and colorful. I needed a summer purse and I thought this would be great since I'm in Florida for casual outings or going to the beach. I purchased it excited and instead of leaving it at that I went on well known makeup site to ask their opinions. I got ripped apart big time saying it was ugly, grandma, and etc ( I had probably 50 responses all negative). It hurt my feelings, but I opened myself up to that, so it's not their fault. I felt so good before, why did I subject myself to criticism when it wasn't need? My boyfriend, my best friend, and Dad said they all liked it and it didn't matter what anyone else thought as long as I liked it. That is so true, so lesson learned. I mean as long as you're not walking around half naked in public or wearing inappropriate stuff in a professional setting it shouldn't really matter. If you love something own it and wear it with confidence! You don't need to go seeking others approval. -Rant Over-

Ok that's it for today! Sorry for the ramble. I'm now going to go run some errands with my new cute and awesome purse that I love! :P
