China Glaze Papa Don't Peach

I have another one of the jelly glitter polishes from China Glaze's Lite Brites collection to share with you today. I am big fan of this collection and I think it's one of the best collections China Glaze has released as of late. I was a big fan of the other jelly glitter We Got The Beet. Will this one steal my heart too?

Papa Don't Peach
Papa Don't Peach is a neon orange jelly packed with gold microglitter.

Collection: China Glaze Lite Brites Summer 2016

Color: This color caused my camera to flip out of a bit. I tried my best to color correct in my photo program, but I still couldn't get it 100%. This is more yellow-orange in real life. This colors is bright and I love the combination with the glitter. This is the perfect summer shade. It's juicy, glitter, and oh so bright!

Formula: Well, I didn't have issues with We Got The Beet's formula like others had mentioned with these jelly glitters, but I did have problems with this formula. This formula was a mess for me. It was thick, sticky, and goopy. This is a polish you really need to let dry completely between coats otherwise it gets too thick and goopy in spots and will never dry or level. Like We Got The Beet, this does dry flat so it needs a top coat, all the more reason to let it dry between coats unless you want a smudgy sticky nail polish mess.

Price: I paid around $4 for this one eBay. I recommend shopping this on e-tailers it is much cheaper than China Glaze's $7-$8 retail price.

Overall: I'm not a big orange fan, but I do love love this color. It's such a fun color that really pops. I'd wear it if the formula wasn't so bad. This formula was just a mess for me and it's so disappointing.

Cupcake Polish Berry Good Looking

Every once in awhile a magical fairy princess unicorn comes down to earth and blesses a polish maker with the power to make one of the most magical polishes of all the land. Sara of Cupcake Polish was one of the fairy princess unicorn blessed makers which resulted in Berry Good Looking. I had my eye on this polish for awhile but never buckled down to get it. Thankfully, it was gifted to me in a recent gift exchange. I don't know why I waited so long.

Berry Good Looking
Berry Good Looking is an intense purple linear holo.

Collection: Cupcake Polish Berry Patch Collection Summer 2015

Color: I was a little worried when I received my bottle because it looked more pink in the bottle than purple. I don't know what magical powers this polish has, but when I applied it to the nail it was undoubtedly purple. It also really comes to life on the nail. It looks just like any other holo in the bottle, but on nail...POW! This is gorgeous shade it's an intensely vibrant purple and the holo factor is one of the strongest I've ever seen.

Formula: This had an excellent and easy to use formula. I used 2 coats above.

Price: This is $13 on Cupcake Polish's website.

Overall: This is a polish every single person who reads this blog needs to own. It is definitely up there in my favorite nail polishes of all time. It's a stunning color and that holo effect is so intense. You need this polish. Buy it now!

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 6/19/16-6/26/16

It was another dud week for wax. I'm finding myself very hard to please lately. I think it's because I really have my set scents I like, but I always want to try more and usually end up not liking stuff as much as I like my set favorites. I'll keep trying though to find some new ones I do like!
Ten Digit Creations Rose Water
Scent Description: rose petals and fresh spring water
My Thoughts: Blech. This smelled odd to me. It smelled like these rose candies they used to sell at World Market that I thought I was so fancy for having. It's sugary synthetic smelling rose that was not for me. I do get a hint of that "rose water" type scent I was expecting, but it's drowned out by something icky sweet. I was really hoping for something refreshing and floral. This wasn't it. The throw wasn't strong either.
Scent Throw: 2/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

ScentSationals Kitchen Sunshine
Scent Description: Clean as a whistle
My Thoughts: Very helpful description. This is s heavy lemon scent, but not so much a clean one in my opinion. This smells like Lemonhead candies. Yet another expected clean scent that goes into sugary candy territory for me. I was expecting more of a natural lemon or even a lemon cleaner scent  with this one. I didn't get either.
Scent Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: ScentSationals

Ten Digit Creations Verbena Bamboo
Scent Description: fresh green aroma of verbena and bamboo
My Thoughts: Now we're talking! This scent I really do like. You get a really strong grassy green note from the bamboo in this scent with a splash of citrus. This scent is very crisp, clean, and refreshing. I really love the greenery notes, it's really a great summer clean scent. The throw could be a tad stronger.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Ten Digit Creations Cucumber Cilantro
Scent Description: fresh cucumber and cilantro with bits of grapefruit and lime
My Thoughts: I was a bit hesitant about picking this one up because I'm not the biggest cilantro fan. People usually either love cilantro or hate it. I'm actually an in-betweener about it. This worked out well in this scent, though. This is very refreshing with the cucumber. It has a strong watery and slightly sweet cucumber base note with citrus and some herbal notes from the cilantro. It's really a nice blend that works well together. My only complaint about this was while it had good throw I felt it dissipated really quickly after the first hour.

China Glaze We Got The Beet

China Glaze is a brand as of late that is very hit or miss. I either love a collection or absolutely hate it. I'd say their summer Lite Brites collection was a definite hit. I had a handful of polishes from this collection I picked up, but I was most intrigued by their microglitter jelly polishes. I have one of those to share with you today.

We Got The Beet
We Got The Beet is a grape purple jelly filled with golden/copper microglitters.

Collection: China Glaze Lite Brites Summer 2016

Color: I adore this color. It's the perfect summer purple that is bold and bright. I love the golden microglitter in this best. You know me I love my cool-toned colors paired with warm metallics. It's an amazing color combination that is very summery.

Formula: Here is what surprised me. I've heard a lot of people complain about the formula on this one. I personally did not have any issues with it whatsoever. I felt it applied nicely. This does dry down matte and textured, so I definitely think top coat is a must. I'm not sure if there were batch issues with this, I just had better luck with it, or I was expecting it to be bad and it wasn't that bad!  I used 2 coats above.

Price: I got this on eBay I think for around $4. I'd search for this one e-tailers. It's always more expensive at Ulta or Sally's.

Overall: I love this fun summer color. I love the jelly look plus the glitter. Yes, it's a definite throwback to jelly shoes. I hate those so much. I loved the look, but they always gave me blisters. Anyways! This polish rocks in my book.

Emerald & Ash That's What She Said

*I received the following product in exchange for my honest review

Yes, we're in June 2016 and I still have just a handful of 2015 polishes from Cosmoprof to review. The next Cosmoprof is 5 weeks away, and I don't think I'll finish all of 2015's before I got to 2016! This next one is from Emerald & Ash, it was an exclusive to this event, but it was my first time trying this brand. I'm not sure what is going on with Emerald & Ash though which is why I have held off posting it. Their shop doesn't seem to be currently open and they haven't updated on social media since March. Anyone have any information?

That's What She Said
That's What She Said is a medium sky blue with a pink shimmer, some micro flakes, and some holo sparkle.

Collection: Comsoprof 2015 Exclusive

Color: This is one of those deceptive polishes. This looks pretty in the bottle, but it really comes to life on the nail. I was surprised how beautiful it was once I painted it on my nails. I love this saturated blue, but all of those sparkle elements are what make this polish.

Formula: This formula was excellent. It was smooth and buttery. I used 2 coats.

Price: N/A. This was an exclusive, but you can view Emerald & Ash's products on their site. I'm not sure when they'll be reopening.

Overall: I love surprise polishes like this one. It's a beautiful color with some awesome sparkly magic. The formula was what really impressed me and stood out with this polish. I love a great formula especially when I typically review polishes with OK-Good formulas. A great formula always stands out!

Girly Bits Tarte au Sucre

I thought I'd try taking French in college, but after one week I decided it was too difficult for me. The pronunciations of everything really tripped me up. I've never been great at learning languages despite my desire to learn them. This polish from Girly Bits latest Sweet Nothings Collections is thankfully one of the few I can pronounce. It's pretty too which is always a plus!

Tarte au Sucre
Tarte au Sucre is a lilac purple sparkling microglitter accented with silver holo, red shimmer and multi coloured iridescent glitter.

Collection: Girly Bits Sweet Nothings Spring 2016

Color: I'm a sucker for lilac or lavender anything. I love this glittery interpretation. This shade has the perfect softness without being too light or pale. The mciroglitter, red shimmer, and iridescent glitter are perfect compliments to this shade that give it some depth and orginality.

Formula: This had an excellent and easy to use formula. I used 2 coats above. This polish definitely needs a top coat as it does dry gritty and flat.

Price: This is $12.80 on Girly Bits site.

Overall: This is an all around great glitter polish. I love the softness of the shade and the added dimension from all of it's glittery counterparts. The formula was great as well as the application. I'd say this is a winning polish.

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 6/12/16-6/19/16

I'm running out of new wax to review! I'm scrapping the bottom of the barrel to find stuff to review lately. I'm somewhat in a bind too since I have a trip coming up and I'm trying to save money. I don't imagine I'll be buying new wax soon since there is nothing new in stores and vendor wax is more expensive. That being said, I did find some stuff to melt this week to share with you.
Colonial Candle Blue Spruce
Scent Description: This welcoming scent with notes of pine, winter greens, and woodsy amber is like a visit to the tree farm. Top - Aldehydic, Bergamot, Cranberry, Red Currant Middle - Pine Needles, Wintergreen, Clove, Cinnamon, Cypress Bottom - Balsam, Cedarwood, Amber
My Thoughts: I'm always hesitant with Christmas tree scents. I used to love them, but lately, I find them to be so heady and overwhelming. This one is actually nice. It really is a perfect blend of Christmas-tree notes and crisp winter air. Of all of the Christmas tree types spruce is my favorite. It's the brightest of all of those tree types. This scent is bright, fresh, and woodsy. I'm a fan.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Colonial Candle

Ten Digit Creations Herbal Essences
Scent Description: smells like the shampoo...slightly herbal, slightly fruity
My Thoughts: I've had this one sitting in a drawer for awhile because I was scared of it. I love Herbal Essences shampoo smell, but this wax on cold sniff was so strong I was afraid it would be too much when melted. I'm happy to report this wasn't the case. The scent dispersed nicely in in the room and wasn't overpowering in the least. This is a very clean scent that leaves just the right of amount of  freshness in the air.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Better Homes & Gardens Farm Apple Pumpkin
Scent Description: Ripe and ready, farm fresh apples and pumpkins
My Thoughts: This is your quintessential fall scent. This is a nice blend trio of pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon. This scent doesn't go sugary sweet or into synthetic territory. It's a very natural scent that is very warm and rich. I was in the mood for it the other day, but quickly realized I prefer something a little brighter and fresher this time of year. That said, it does not diminish the quality of this scent, it's awesome! I'll just wait until September.
Scent Throw: 4.5/5
Where To Buy: Walmart

ScentSationals Mandarin Mango Madness
Scent Description: A tropical twist of ripe island mango nectar with sweet mandarin oranges, ruby red grapefruit and exotic dew fruit. So tempting, you can almost feel the madness!
My Thoughts: I knew on first sniff this would be a problem, but I put it in the melter anyways hoping for a different outcome. Mango scents (as well as peach) I've noticed are really hard to replicate in wax naturally. They tend to go musty. Instead of smelling like fresh fruit they smell like overripe moldy fruit. This was the case with Mandarin Mango Madness. Not nice. I quickly tossed this one out of the warmer.

Throwbacks Week: Avon Honeydew Dazzle

A polish brand I don't review much, but like is Avon. I was more into Avon polishes a few years back when a friend of mine was a rep. I bought a handful and really enjoyed their offerings. This was one of the colors I bought back then and I think it's a really unique color considering it's from Avon!

Honeydew Dazzle
Honeydew Dazzle is a pale honeydew green with clear glass fleck shimmer.

Collection: Avon Forbidden Fruits 2013

Color: I love this soft pale green shade. This is so summer for me. Greens can be kind of tricky on me, but this one is awesome. What makes the shade even better is the glass fleck shimmer added. It really adds a pretty effect that makes it look like it's glistening in the sun.

Formula: The formula on this is OK. The formula on this is a bit streaky and uneven. I used 3 coats above. It's not the worst formula I've ever used, but it's not ideal either.  You can tell in the photo despite using 3 coats it doesn't even out entirely.

Price: N/A. I don't think this one is available anymore.

Overall: Despite, the tricky formula I really love Honeydew Dazzle. I love this soft green shade and adore the glass fleck shimmer. I love me some glass fleck glitter and shimmer and I want to see more of it! This is a beautiful color that I'm happy to have.

Throwbacks Week: LA Splash Midnight Rain

Back before indie days fun glitter polishes were not easy to find. LA Splash was a brand that used to be carried at Ulta around 5-6 years ago and they used to sell fun glitter polishes. One of my favorites used to be Midnight Rain. I rediscovered it in my stash recently and that is what I have to show you today.

Midnight Rain
Midnight Rain is a navy jelly base with blue and red glitter.

Collection: N/A

Color: I love the combination of red and blue glitters. A bold red and bold blue are probably my favorite colors. The thing I don't like about this color is the sheerness, which I'll get into in the next section. The colors of though are awesome in here and I don't see many red and blue color combos like this often.

Formula: This is sheer. This is probably best layered, but I've been spoiled the past 4 years with awesome opaque glitter polishes from indies. This isn't how things were pre-indie. Layering glitters were expected. I used 4 coats here on its own and you still see patchy spots. The formula was a bit on the thick side too which is not ideal when you layering on 4 coats!

Price: N/A. I don't think you can find this one anymore.

Overall: I really do like this glitter, but I'll remember it needs to be layered in the future. I'd probably rate this so much higher if it were 2012, but it's 2016. No, this isn't an ideal polish now, but it's a nice throwback.

Throwbacks Week: OPI DS Ruby

It's time for another week of throwbacks! I recently decided to destash my overgrown collection and came across this pretty. No worries, I decided this one needed to stay! OPI DS holos are some of the best holos around up into this day. This one I remember snagging in a blog sale a few years ago.

DS Ruby
DS Ruby is a cherry red holographic.

Collection: OPI Designer Series 2006 (?)

Color: This is a great red holo. This red leans more on lighter red side. I'd almost say it has the slightest hint of pink to it. The holo effect in this is more scattered than linear, but it still has a strong holo effect. You can see those rainbows!

Formula: Excellent formula. I used 2 coats here. It applies beautifully.

Price: You can sometimes still snag one of these on eBay in the $50 range.

Overall: I love this red holo. It's a beautifully nostalgic blast from the past polish. The newer DS polishes definitely do not have this same diamond dust added to them as the older ones do. These older DS polishes are something special and I'm happy to have this one.

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 6/5/16-6/12/16

I broke even this week on wax. I had two hits and two misses. I'm also getting the point where I'm running out of new wax to review! Oh no! Hopefully, I find some more soon.
Wilma's Lavender Chamomile
Scent Description: A calming mixture of fresh lavender and relaxing chamomile.
My Thoughts: This is your Johnson & Johnson Bedtime Bath baby lotion type scent. I love this scent. It's a very soothing and relaxing scent. This was the perfect 50/50 blend of lavender and chamomile. What I found most noteworthy of this scent was the strength. This was strong! I have a few lavender and chamomile blends from other brands and they're always a fairly light scent in regards to throw. I'm very happy this one is strong in a good way, not overpowering.
Scent Throw: 4.5/5
Where To Buy: Wilma's Shop

Yankee Candle Home for the Holidays
Scent Description: The holiday spices of cinnamon and clove, mixed with earthy cedarwood and balsam.
My Thoughts: Yes, it's June and it's 90+ degrees with 80% humidity, but I was in the mood for this scent. This is your very general holiday scent. Picture it, Michael's, Joann's, and Hobby Lobby October-November. Cinnamon pine cones. That's how this smells. I really love this scent. It's not sugary or bakery, it's not overpowering Christmas tree. It's a nice cinnamon woodsy blend that smells like the most wonderful time of the year.
Scent Throw: 3.5/5
Where To Buy: Yankee Candle

Ten Digit Creations Under the Sea
Scent Description: cool clean ocean water with a refreshing blast of mint
My Thoughts: This one is weird. I don't get any clean ocean water scent from this or any true mint notes. This smells exactly like Orbit Sweet Mint gum. Orbit Sweet Mint gum is my favorite flavor, but I don't want my house to smell like it. This is a very artificial gum mint smell without any water notes. I was hoping the mint in this would be like an herbal mint you get in clean scents (i.e. Eucalyptus Spearmint). That would have made sense for a scent named this with that description. Unfortunately, I'm just getting Orbit gum.
Scent Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Wilma's Shop White Peach Spa
Scent Description: This fragrance is very interesting as white peach offers a bit of a tart but sweet citrus note and honey adds just the right amount of sweetness.
My Thoughts: I'm not getting any peach, honey, or sweetness from this scent. All I get is tart lemon. It's not a nice lemon either. Usually, I prefer tart lemon to sweet, but this was just harsh and bitter. There wasn't anything peach or spa-like about this. Blech.
Scent Throw: 4.5/5
Where To Buy: Wilma's Shop

Fresh Paint Emma

Back at it again with another Fresh Paint polish. Can you tell I like this brand yet? This brand is sold at Five Below and is always buy 3 for $5. They always come out with new shades every few months or so and what they have to offer is usually pretty good shade wise. This neutral shade was one I picked up recently.

Emma
Emma is a neutral pink creme.

Collection: N/A

Color: I'm not sure how to describe this color exactly, but it's definitely in the neutral/nude category of pink shades. I like colors like this because look very clean and chic on the nails while still having that pop of color. I think this shade would be universally flattering and definitely office appropriate.

Formula: Excellent formula. I used 2 coats above.

Price: These are 3 of $5 at Five Below.

Overall: I know this may not be the most exciting color in the world, but there is definite time, place, and mood for colors like this. I often gravitate to them when I want a clean look on my nails after doing a streak of crazy colors and glitter. Sometimes I just want something simple, believe it or not! Fresh Paint makes great colors with great formulas, so it's worth checking out.

Different Dimension Magic Mirror

I've mentioned before I'm terrible at keeping up with FB groups especially fan ones. I really don't fangirl over brands, so I'm not heavily invested in groups. I love a few brands and I'm their groups, but I don't keep up with them daily. It's something I should really try to work on because I could easily miss out on group customs like this Different Dimension one I have for you today. Thankfully, I was on top of this one and was able to snag it!

Magic Mirror
Magic Mirror is black linear holo with iridescent color shifting flakes.

Collection: Different Dimension May Group Custom

Color: Holos are very common place these days, so I like when brands add some magic to their holos. This is exactly what was done with Magic Mirror. It starts out with a superb black holo, but it has these beautiful iridescent color flakes added in that give this polish some added dimension. It's stunning!

Formula: Excellent formula. I used 2 coats above.

Price: N/A. This was group custom that is no longer available. If you love Different Dimension, so I highly recommend joining the FB group so you don't miss out on future ones.

Overall: Magic Mirror is a stunner. I love the complexity of this shade. I adore Different Dimension altogether. If you're a fan of holos with added pizzazz and bling Different Dimension is definitely the brand for you.

Sephora Formula X Euphoria

*The following product was purchased with a gift card provided by Sephora in exchange for my honest review.

I have been a fan of Sephora's Formula X line since it's fruition. I love how they have different finish collections within in the Formula X line. One of their newer collections is the Black Quartz collection that features color glitter in a black jelly base. I have one of those colors to show you today.

Euphoria
Euphoria is a black jelly base with pale pink glitters.

Collection: Sephora Formula X Black Quartz Collection 2015

Color: This is actually my favorite color this collection. I love this pairing of the black with the pale  pink. It's not a color combination I see often and I love the elegant look of these colors together. This isn't an in your face bling monster, which I sometimes prefer. It's on the softer side of the bling scale but it still has some glitz.

Formula: This formula was good. I used 3 coats above. This formula does dry matte and gritty, so top coat is a must. These colors are not attractive the way it dries. Top coat brings them to life.

Price: This is $12.50 at Sephora.

Overall: I like Euphoria. I really like this color combination as it's unique to me. I also like how Sephora has successfully accomplished the black jelly glitter. I've seen a lot of black jellies with glitter where the glitter gets drowned out by the black jelly base. The formula is alright and the fact it dries to matte finish isn't ideal. That can be fixed with top coat, but a glossier finish would have been better!

Weekly Wax Wrap Up: 5/29/16-6/5/16

Unfortunately, this was a dud week for wax. Only one out these four waxes really worked for me this week. That being said, the one that did work is probably a new favorite. When I find a favorite it's dangerous because I want to buy that scent in every product possible! Let's get started.
Candles by Victoria Neptune's Oasis
Scent Description: One of the most unique scents you will ever smell, this modernized version of a classic summer theme stimulates the senses with its freshness and vitality. The new botanical twist of an oceanic accord has dramatic tones of cactus with fresh green elements and unexpected texture. This vibrant green quality creates a shimmering top note that accents the fragrance signature of fresh sea spray. Unexpected salty accents add newness to the blend while elements of sea moss and warm driftwood create rich undertones that support the fragrance from within.
My Thoughts: That's quite the description and that's exactly the problem with it. This is an issue I generally have with Candles by Victoria. There are just too many notes going on that it becomes muddled and muddy. I do detect those ocean and water notes, but whatever else is going on blends into some weird sweet syrupy smell. It's like ocean with a side of pancakes. Nope.
Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: Candles By Victoria

Ten Digit Creations Phury
Scent Description: fresh citrus, sheer floral, warm musk, cedarwood and vetiver (Compare to Fierce for men by Abercrombie & Fitch)
My Thoughts: I really liked this scent for awhile. It's definitely men's cologne scent, but on the fresher and brighter scale. This one had a time frame for me. I liked it for the first hour or two and then it just became too much. It's not too strong of a throw, just the scent notes can are really sharp and be a bit nauseating after awhile. I feel like this needs some mellow note to dilute those harsher notes.
Throw: 3/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Ten Digit Creations Vanilla Lime
Scent Description: creamy vanilla and zesty lime
My Thoughts: I'm always hesitant with vanilla notes. Sometimes vanilla can really round out a scent blend and at other times it overpowers it. The latter was the case with Vanilla Lime. I'd say this scent is 75% Vanilla 25% Lime. I wish it were the other way around or 50/50, but it is called Vanilla Lime not Lime Vanilla. It's a nice scent, it's just too much vanilla for me.
Throw: 4/5
Where To Buy: Ten Digit Creations

Ten Digit Creations Pink Mimosa
Scent Description: strawberry blended with mimosa, vanilla rum, and berries
My Thoughts: This is where vanilla in a scent works. This was my favorite melt of the week and I loved it. This reminds me a bit of Bath & Body Works Carried Away scent. They're not dupes. I compared them, but they have similarities. I detect the berry and citrus notes in this and it's all well rounded out with that vanilla rum. This has a very nice bright fruity yet perfumey vibe going on. I loved this scent and it will be one I'll be purchasing in bath and body products soon. I want to Pink Mimosa all the things!
Throw: 3.5/5

Fresh Paint Charlotte

I think you're seeing a theme with me here. I really like Fresh Paint polish. This has become a favorite drugstore style brand for me as of late. I think they make high-quality polish for an excellent price. I can't say Fresh Paint makes unique colors usually, but this next color stood out to me as somewhat different than other blues like it.

Charlotte
Charlotte is a muted aqua blue creme.

Collection: N/A

Color: This color really stood out to me because it had this dusty and muted quality. It reminds me of a vintage type color. I think this a pretty unique aqua shade because of that. I really like it.

Formula: Excellent easy to use formula that applied nicely. I used 2 coats.

Price: Fresh Paint polishes are 3 for $5 at Five Below.

Overall: I really like Charlotte. It's a nice dusty aqua creme that is little off the beaten path from Fresh Paint's usual standard shades. The formula on this was great and so was the price. I'm a Fresh Paint fan!
