LASplash Heiress

There is nothing more exciting than rediscovering a brand of polish I had not seen in a long time in a store. LASplash nail polish has been off the shelves of Ulta for probably over a year now. I know LASplash even before has never really been a popular brand, but it was definitely a brand creating fun glitters prior to the indie craze. I was happy to spot the brand at Bed Bath & Beyond recently (note: only Bed Bath & Beyond stores with the Harmon cosmetics section will carry these). I picked up a few glitters and this was one of them.

Heiress over Cult Nails Nevermore
Heiress is a micro royal purple glitter in a clear base.

I used two coats over Cult Nails Nevermore in this swatch. You could probably do 3 coats of this on its own, but I definitely recommend a base for a more even coverage. I love this color glitter, and to be honest it  sparkles so much more in person than in the photo! I wish I could capture how much it sparkles! Heiress definitely gives you blingy nails. The formula on this is a bit on the thick side, but it isn't unmanageable.

You can also find this polish for $3.50 on Cherry Culture. I'd recommend holding off until they have a 20% off sale though. I know last year they had one for March Madness, so I'm sure one is approaching!

Happy Wednesday!

Milani Texture Creams Swatches & Review

I have great collection for you all today. I initially did not have any interest at all in the texture polish trend. I didn't even want to try it. Curiosity got the best of me, and I'm glad it did. I admit, once I tried it I felt differently. The Milani Textured Creams are truly awesome!  The Milani Texture Creams come in 6 bright colors. I love the colors Milani chose to use with these polish!

L-R:
Tainted Red, Yellow Mark, Aqua Splash, Purple Streak, Spoiled in Fuchsia, and Shady Gray

Tainted Red
Tainted Red is a bright red textured cream. (2 coats)

Yellow Mark
Yellow Mark is a sunny yellow textured cream. (2 coats)

Aqua Splash
Aqua Splash is an aqua textured cream. (3 coats)

Purple Streak
Purple Streak is a bright grape textured cream. (2 coats)

Spoiled in Fuchsia
Spoiled in Fuchsia is a fuchsia textured cream. (2 coats)

Shady Gray
Shady Gray is a deep gray textured cream. (2 coats)

Color: The colors are great. The colors are very pigmented. I love how they chose bright colors, and the addition of the gray shade is great.

Formula: I found the formula on all of these easy to work with. I find these applied well without any noticeable trouble. I used 2 coats on all of these swatches with the exception of Aqua Splash. I think Aqua Splash needed an extra coat.

Texture: These look like stucco. The finish is very cool! The texture of these certainly not smooth, but they're not unpleasant or prickly. I'm not typically fan of texture, but this isn't anything that is uncomfortable to feel or makes me want to reach for top coat at all. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Overall: Amazing collection! I love that these are creams. I actually prefer these textured creams to the other glittery textured polishes out there. The major plus is that this is a drugstore brand! That makes these really affordable.

The retail price of these polishes is $4.99. They are limited edition. These will be available at Meijer, Walgreens, HEB, and Fred Meyer. You'll also be able to purchase these from the Milani Cosmetics website.

What are your favorites in this collection?

* I received these polishes for my honest review by Milani Cosmetics.

Happy Tuesday!

Revlon Girly

When I first heard about Revlon Girly I got that instant nail polish addict primal instinct of  "MUST FIND THIS NOW". Girly is a fun glitter, and it's a drugstore brand. We all know drugstore brand fun glitters are not always easy to find, so this enticed me.

Revlon Girly over Milani Juno

Girly is a mixture of different shades and shapes of purple and pink glitter in a pink milky base.

Here it goes...

I don't like this. I layered over a pink because I initially didn't like how it looked on its own. I found it too glittery, so I thought if I layered it I would like it better. I don't hate this, I can't even put my finger on why I don't really like this. I absolutely love it in the bottle, but not so much on the nail. I wish I could describe to you why I don't like this that much , but I really can't. Meh, sorry. Blogger fail. I know this is a popular one, so many of you will like it. There is nothing wrong with it really, it just isn't my cup of tea.

Happy Monday!

China Glaze Graffiti Glitter

It's time for another China Glaze Glitz Bitz n' Pieces polish today. This one is green and black combo called Graffiti Glitter. This one like the others I've posted I really do love! These are so cool. This entire collection is turning out to be one of my favorites from China Glaze.

Graffiti Glitter over white (accent nail)
China Glaze Holly-Day (rest of nails)

Graffiti Glitter is a mixture of varying sized green and black glitters with black bar glitters in a clear base.

This is another great glitter! I'm just loving the color glitters mixed with black in this collection. This applied nicely, and the glitter comes out easily. This is another case of I really like this, but can't find any other descriptive words to describe how awesome it is! Wee! Green! Glitter!

Happy Friday!

Sinful Colors Forget Now

Hey everyone! I'm back. I had a great time with my parents, but of course I'm sad they've left now :(.

I want to revisit a Sinful Colors oldie polish for you today, but I'm pretty sure this is part of core line so you can still find it! This is one of the first polishes I purchased when I first started to really get into my nail polish. This was actually one of my first favorites too, but it definitely got overshadowed at time. I decided to revisit it recently, and my love for it came back again!

Forget Now

Forget Now is a magenta pink base with violet/blue glass fleck shimmer throughout.

This is a pretty pink polish. I love the violet glass fleck throughout, it definitely makes this polish more interesting. I know now looking at my polish collection this isn't the most exciting or original color out there. Forget Now is a tried and true color though, and as you can see it has received a lot of love! One thing I don't like about this polish is the name. Forget Now? What? Sinful Colors has always had some weird names though....

Happy Thursday!

Guest Post: ECKlipsed by Color- Takko Lacquer's We're All Mad Here & Glittergasm

Today's post is brought to you by ECKlipsed by Color. Elena's blog is fairly new to me, but she has some awesome nail art! Thank you for doing a guest for me Elena!

Hello lovelies, I'm Elena from ECKlipsed by Color. First and foremost, a big thanks to Stephanie for letting me guest post for her! Being that Imperfectly Painted is a Florida beauty blog (and I am a part-time Central Floridian), I wanted to share some nail polish originating from Florida. Takko Lacquer is an exquisite and artisanal indie brand created by the lovely Sheryl. They are eco-friendly, carefully handcrafted, and thoughtfully created. Each shade is truly an experience, with a name and pigment selection that makes an impact on the viewer.

I am featuring two colors from Takko with my mani, We're All Mad Here and Glittergasm. We're All Mad Here is from Sheryl's Holiday Collection. It is a tribute to the eccentrically fabulous, Mad Hatter from Alice In Wonderland. The polish is an indigo cream-jelly, with iridescent jade green flakes and luscious orange microglitter. Love at first sight. Glittergasm is from the brand-new Spring Collection. It is a captivating multi-glitter (hexes, stars, circles, holos, opaques, translucent, and squares). This shade is predominately fuchsia and hot pink. I think the name says it all...

My mani encompassed a few trends. I started with a base of Julep's Rebel- a stunning silver holographic. On my pinky, ring, and middle fingers, I rocked the border manicure trend as made famous by Chanel and Tracy Reese at NYFW. Then I did accent nails on my index finger and thumb with a combination of all three lacquers. I couldn't resist free handing a heart to show my love of this brand- it's truly addictive!

I hope you all enjoyed this mani as much as I did! Definitely go on and check out Takko Lacquers, you will be amazed... Takko Lacquer is available at Etsy and Mei Mei's Signatures.

As always... color me obsessed,
Elena

Thanks Elena!

Guest Post: Haute Lacquer's Clean Nail Art

Today I have a guest post from the lovely Shaina from Haute Lacquer! I absolutely love Shaina's nail art! She's very talented! I'm sure you all know that because I've shared quite of few of her posts on Sundays. Thank you so much Shaina for doing a guest post for me!

Hello lovely readers! I'm Shaina from Haute Lacquer and I am more than excited to be posting for Imperfectly Painted! I've gotten to know Stephanie through Facebook and Twitter, but only after becoming a big fan of her blog. So of course I was psyched to have my own little space on her blog!

The design I'm sharing with you all today is one that I find very "clean". I don't exactly know what I mean when I say that. Basically it's simple without being boring and fun without being over the top! You know?

For this manicure I started off with a jelly sandwich of Sation 3 Free-dom / OPI Spark De Triomphe / another coat of Sation 3 Free-dom. After allowing that to dry I created a large middle stripe with the beautiful Zoya Kelly and a nail art brush. I lined that stripe with black acrylic paint and also created the diagonal stripes with the same black. I finished this manicure off with a shiny top coat.

Thanks for reading and thank you Stephanie for having me! I hope you all liked this design. Feel free to check out my blog, Haute Lacquer, if you want to see more of my nail art!

Thanks Shaina!

Guest Post: Lacquered Latina's Neon Nail Art

Hey everyone! Today, I have guest post from Elizabeth from The Lacquered Latina. Thank you Elizabeth for volunteering to guest post for me!

Hello Lovely Ladies!

So I wanted some cool nail art with my bright neons. As I am sitting at my table staring and staring and I could not think of anything. I went on YouTube and watched a cool tutorial by cutepolish tried it and failed.

Finally I painted my nails white thinking I was just going to add triangles using Scotch Tape. A few days before I was putting nail polish on tape to add color to my phone... Then I thought it would be the perfect way to add stripes.

Make sure your base color has completely dried before you start!

I add 3 different colored stripes to the tape. When your are painting the stripes leave a tiny bit of room in between the polish so if you mess up while cutting you don't have to start again. I did this 10 times and let them dry almost completely.

Once they were dry I cut them in different sizes using tweezers I placed them on my nails, using the tweezers make sure you get the edges down completely. The way I made sure of this was by the tweezers on the edge and pressing down and giving it a few moments to make sure it stuck. Wait a few second and then clear coated the crap out of the suckers! I am more than very pleased with these and already have soooo many ideas and combinations! if you recreate this or have done it yourself I'd love to see it, on twitter or instagram use #lacqueredlatinastripes

Stay Sparkly My Friend!

Thanks Elizabeth!

Guest Post: Dees Polish Endeavors Tortoiseshell Nails

Today, I have a post by Dee over at Dees Polish Endeavors! She's been blogging since 2009! She's one of the first blogs I remember following when I got into nail polish. Thank you for the post Dee!

Hey everyone!

I'm extremely excited to be a guest blogger here at Imperfectly Painted - if my memory serves me correctly (and it fails me on many occasions) this is my first official go at writing a guest blog.. I hope I don't fail miserably! Cross your fingers for me.

When I said I'd be interested in doing a guest post for Stephanie, I knew I had a special trio of polish on its way over to me - and I also knew that if they made it to me in time, I'd be doing the tortoiseshell nails ala ChalkboardNails. Judging by the title of this post, the polish trio showed up.. and I went with my original idea.

I know, not as good as the original - but, I have to tell you all.. I love these nails! I think my next go round with them, I will have more activity and layering going on. I mean, there is a wealth already, but I feel like more would be a genius way to go about this.

I was able to get my mitts on the polish trio she used, which is created by Elevation Polish. The polish are: Temperance, Cascade, and Tettegouche. They are all jelly formulas, and they are all fantastic!

I can imagine that if any of you happened to nab these gems when they came up for sale - your plan, like mine, is to use them to recreate that particular manicure. My one word of advice: DO IT! It isn't very complicated, and it looks amazing! Even if you don't have these particular colours, you could do something similar with jelly polish - ooh, like a colourful tortoiseshell print! Could you imagine? I can. I like!

Thanks for having me Stephanie, it was an absolute pleasure - and to all of you - thank you for stopping by! Take care until next time..

Thanks Dee!

China Glaze Scattered and Tattered

Hey all! I just wanted to give you the heads up. My parents are coming in town tonight through Wednesday for a visit, so I have some guest posts scheduled for next week! Share With You Sunday will be posted as normal though!

I have another polish from the China Glaze Glitz Bitz n' Pieces collection to show you today. I'm hearing a lot of mixed thoughts on these polishes. I've heard people love them, and I've heard people describe them as yucky and gross. The yucky and gross comments make me sad, though I do admit when it has come to some nail polish collections I didn't like I've said the same! I honestly think these are awesome polishes! The polish I have for you today is the red and black combo called Scattered and Tattered. Again, I'm showing you this swatch as an accent nail in way I'd wear this as a manicure.

Scattered and Tattered over white (accent nail)
Wet n' Wild Haze of Love (rest of nails)

Scattered and Tattered is a mixture of varying sized red and black glitters with black bar glitters in a clear base.

Awesome possum! I love this one too. I love the combination of red with black. The combination of glitters as far as color, size, and shape provide great contrast and create a really cool look. This was also really easy to apply. I've said before, I'm not a fan of bar glitter, but the way these are mixed with the other glitters I think it looks great!

Happy Friday!
