Disney Princess Designer Nail Polish Part 2

If you did not see yesterday's post, please check it out!

Here is the other half of the Disney Princess polishes.

Ariel
Ariel is a medium blue intense shimmer.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel is a plum metallic foil.

Belle

Belle is a warm gold metallic foil.

Tiana

Tiana is a pale sea foam green pearl-frost.

Pocahontas

Pocahontas is a bronze metallic foil.

I have the same sentiments as last time. These are not unique colors at all, but I really adore this set. It kills me that Tiana is such a frosty color! Blech. What they did do a good job of here is giving you a great selection of finishes. We have sheer/jelly, frost, glitter, holographic glitter, shimmer, & foil. The only prominent exclusion would be creme, but honestly when I think of Disney and Disney Princess creme probably isn't as "magical" of a finish.

I didn't have any noticeable application problems with these. They were average, I think they all had solid coverage with 3 coats with the exception of Cinderella. The best pigmentation wise were definitely the foil ones like Pocahontas as Rapunzel. What I did notice is that these dried super fast. I know that's probably not make or break it information when it comes to buying these polishes, but it was an interesting discovery.

My favorite? I think as far as color/pigmentation I'd say Ariel, Mulan, & Rapunzel. Who is my favorite Disney princess? Ariel of course!

What is your favorite among these polishes and who is your favorite Disney princess?

Disney Princess Designer Nail Polish Part 1

One of my favorite things outside of nail polish is Disney. When Tierney of Tier's Thoughts tweeted about Disney Princess Designer Nail Polish on the Disney Store website. I didn't even have to think twice. I instantly bought these! I couldn't pass up on combination of my two favorite things.

The Disney Designer Nail Polish set consists of 10 nail polish colors named after 10 of Disney's princesses; Mulan, Jasmine, Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Rapunzel, Belle, Tiana, and Pocahontas. The entire set is $24.50. The bottle sizes are small and only .2ml.

This is the box they come in. I don't know why but Cinderella and Aurora look exactly the same, as far as their pictures! All the swatches below are 3 coats.

Mulan

Mulan is a pale sheer build-able pink.

Jasmine
Jasmine is a frosty teal.

Snow White

Snow White is red glitter in a clear base.

Cinderella

Cinderella is a silver holographic glitter in clear base.

Aurora

Aurora is a magenta with blue-violet shimmer flash.

These colors are far from imaginative and unique. They're predictable and nothing we haven't seen before. I'm not surprised, but I'm not disappointed either. I love this set, just based on the fact I love Disney Princesses and nail polish. It's neat to have Disney Princess themed polish. Obviously, if you're not a fan, then I don't see any reason to get these. I do think if you have child who loves Disney Princesses this would be an awesome stocking stuffer or holiday gift for them. If you are a fan though, I think you'll enjoy having this set in your collection!

I'll have part 2 tomorrow with Ariel, Rapunzel, Belle, Tiana, & Pocahontas!

Happy Tuesday!

Icing At Dusk

I started classes again today. I always feel ridiculously behind the first day of school. I swear you're handed all these syllabi and deadlines, and I automatically start stressing. It's crazy because it's the first day of school and we haven't even started doing anything yet! I've been cursed with the "overachiever" trait, and I don't consider it a good thing. I spend time worrying about getting things done, and once I actually do them it's not a big deal. Any one else like this? The reason I mention school, is because you may notice I won't be posting as reguarly as usual. I will try, but sometimes I get too overloaded!

Back to polish. I got this glitter at Icing. I like Icing polishes, but I'm not a fan of shopping at their stores. It's one of those stores where they hound you all the time, and immediately hand you a basket to shop. I always feel guilty if I don't buy something there. Lol, I'm terrible, just no thanks on the basket please. I'm a sucker, stop guilt tripping me!

At Dusk over Finger Paints Heavenly Hydrangeas

At Dusk is muted pink and silver small glitters in a clear base.

What I love about this glitter is it's not your typical layering glitter. It's not very blingy. It's very subdued and the color of the glitter is unique. I haven't really been into layering much lately, but I really see myself using this. It adds a nice sparkly touch, but a soft one, not loud boisterous one!

Happy Monday!

Cleaning the closets Sunday....

I'm going to have to take this Sunday off from "Share with you Sunday". I've decided to do a little "fall cleaning" in the closets. Please tell me there are others out there who have neat organized homes, but disaster area closets? My closets are a nightmare, but you'd never be able to tell based on my apartment. I feel so disorganized :-/. Blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ok, sorry, I really hate cleaning closets...

I do want to let you know Target is offering another free beauty bag full of beauty samples. You can sign up for one here.

OPI Road House Blues

I have been extremely disappointed with the year's fall collections. I know I've mentioned this a few times. I've completely avoided a few collections, while with the others I just get 1 or 2 polishes. I must say though despite my disappointment, I do consider it bittersweet. The stinky selection does save me money! I do love this OPI from the Touring America collection.

Road House Blues

Road House Blues is a deep indigo creme.

Perfection. I love a good dark blue creme. This definitely reads blue, it doesn't look black on the nails. I don't have much else to say other than I really like this color. I hate that. It doesn't need much pomp and circumstance though. It's an overall great blue!

Happy Friday!

NYX Girls Dreamy Glitter

I don't usually get funky glitters, but when I saw this NYX Girls polish. I had to get it. It was just so pretty! I absolutely love NYX Girls polishes. They have some of the best glitters, and for an excellent price. I just wish I could find these in stores vs. online. I have found a few at Urban Outfitters, but not for the best price. :(

Dreamy Glitter over Eva Powder Blue
Dreamy Glitter Mattified
Dreamy Glitter is a pink/gold-toned iridescent microgliter, large hexogo glitter, and pink star glitter suspended in a clear base.

I love this glitter! It reminds me of something out of My Little Pony or The Care Bears. I know, very silly, but that's what it reminds me of. This is really a great and girly glitter. I haven't been into layering lately, perhaps it's because I haven't found something as unique as this. I'll definitely be layering this neat polish!

Happy Wednesday!

Talk It Out Tuesday: You need a makeover!

Today's topic is centered on nail polish brands, and their image (bottle design) .I know we all have our favorites and our not-so-favorites as far as formulation and other areas. I'm curious to know if you think there is a nail polish brand out there that could use a little update as far as their image?

Do you find any brands bottles to be outdated, not so flattering, cheap looking, and in need of a makeover? What are they? What is it about them you don't like?

Does the look of this brand(s) bottle of polish deter you from purchasing from the brand?

How could this brand(s) change to make them better?

My answer:

Revlon- This is my instant gut reaction to this question. Revlon seems to have the same exact bottle design forever. I know my mother has some Revlon bottles from 1988 in the back of closest somewhere that look the same. Perhaps, this is the intention. This is what they want, the timeless look, the tried and true. However, I think it's ugly, dated, and unappealing. I love the Top Speed bottles, just adding the silver writing and the silver caps does wonders! It totally freshens up their look. I think doing something as simple as changing the color of their caps, font, and color on their bottles would do wonders. I would be less likely to pass them by!

NYC- I barely shop this brand because their bottles are so well, cheap looking. I'm not enticed at all to look through their nail products because of this. I also think they have too much writing on their bottles. Simple is better. I understand they are on the lower-end of drugstore price-wise, but I feel a more uniform look would do wonders. Remember Love Letters? I would of never picked this one up if it hadn't been blogged about, based on the look for their bottles.

Nicole by OPI- These are the worst bottles ever, not to mention difficult to use. I  saw Cris from Let Them Have Polish describe it best, referring to these bottles as "saggy boobs".  The bottle is absolutely ridiculous. It's not functional. That's my main problem with this brand.

What your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Tuesday!

China Glaze Emotion

A little while ago while purging my stash for my blog sale I came across this China Glaze color. I was tempted to put it in the purge pile, but I decided not to. This color has one of the characteristics of a polish I hate. It's frosty. I can't help but love this one though. I think sometimes frosts can be nice, if they're paired with the right color. At least for me, in this case I approve this frost! Plus, I think I have some attachment to it, because it was one of the first polishes I bought when I got into nail polish.

Emotion
Emotion is a warm shimmery metallic pink.

This was from the spring Romantique 2009 collection. It's funny how that was only 2 years ago, but in nail polish years 2 years might as well be 10. I actually love the finish on it. It almost looks chrome. I also love the vibrancy of this pink too. It's not your typical dated pale pink frost. This pink definitely has some depth and punch to it! All in all, I really like this color. I think it will stay in my stash. :)

Happy Monday!

Be sure to share your links for this post!

Pictures of the Day:

These pictures were taken at Disney World in Epcot. I got for my major birthday gift a weekday seasonal pass to Disney ,and I'm so psyched. I used to have an annual one, but the price became insane. In fact, I hadn't been in 3 years and I live only 15 minutes away. I'm over the moon I get to go again. Disney is one of my favorites places on earth! The second picture is a picture I took of a lion fish at the Living Seas pavilion.

Bottle Spam Saturday: Green Edition

You all voted for greens this week for bottle spam. I have to say, be prepared to be disappointed. I have very few greens. In fact, with the exception of yellow, green is color I have the least of. I actually love the color green, but green is really not my color. It doesn't play well with my skin tone. I do love darker greens, as you'll see. I think dark greens can be flattering on most people.

Be sure to vote for next week's bottle spam! Also, remember to like my page on Facebook!

Yves Saint Laurent Wintergreen

I know this will be an unusual post from me. YSL polish really? This is another high-end purchase I made around my birthday. I saw this at Neiman Marcus and I was sucked into it. I couldn't resist. I think this was $20 well spent. I know that is very pricey for a polish, but I don't do it often!

Wintergreen
Wintergreen is a deep teal blue with greenish gold microshimmer.

This is hands down the best formula I've ever experienced in a polish. It was smooth, even, and complete perfection. The pigmentation of this is perfect. The shimmer in this is gorgeous. It looks like crushed up pearls. I definitely notice why some polishes are high end. The ingredients used to make them as far as color and shimmer look richer than other brands. Gorgeous polish!

Happy Thursday!

Zoya Mimi

Sorry this is late! I thought I had this scheduled to post earlier, but I didn't. Oops! Thank you for all your comments on yesterday's post. I will reply to them later this evening.

Zoya Mimi has been on my mind ever since it came out last summer. It was one of those polishes I wanted, but kept putting off getting. I think it's because I left a lot of my summer Zoya Sparkle collection in untrieds until recently. I know, blasphemous! These sparkle polishes are spectacular. Once, I got through wearing a few I knew I'd been crazy for passing up Mimi for so long!

Mimi
Mimi is a royal toned purple with light purple/pink glass fleck.

Sparkle-licious. I forgot how much I loved these glass-fleck glitters! This is actually a bit more red-toned than this photo shows. My camera does not behave well with purples it turns most of them in to blurples. This is beautiful and vivid. I have no complaints!

Happy Wednesday!
